Forums - Gaming - Bioware: "It makes sense for us to be multiplatform"

Just a quick question like that: is it harder to port a 360 game to PS3 or a PS3 game to 360? (I know the game will probably release on PC as well.)

Some people prefer exclusivity because it gives a console "identity" but I'm 100% for mult-platform games.  I actually hope for a single universal platform in the future.  As more and more developers shy away from limiting their audience, I think it may eventually happen.

ahahhaha, thats bullshit. The bottom line is that they feel that they need those games as a reason for spending so many dollars due to their "brand loyalty".

So looks like the third one might not come to the ps3 after all! :P

Speaking of which, I like multiplatform games if it is day one multiplatform, otherwise I don't see the point.

I'm in as long as Microsoft doesn't try to make the hardware. Lol.

Alright, thanks. I'm guessing if they don't announce the game as a multiplat (as in it will be a console timed exclusive for a bit), they'll just use the PC version of the game for the PS3 port or something.

Hopefully they just create one big nice version with all the three machines's powers in mind.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Amen, brother!  Or, if anything, different companies coould make different versions of the same hardware. You could get your top of the line model with all of the bells and whistles or you could get a stripped down model that doesn't do anything special--but all models could play every game.  Nobody wins with exclusives.  Remember when Batman Begins was only on HDDVD?  All it did was hurt the consumer.  Anyhoo, this thread is about Mass Effect/Bioware.  I won't derail it.

While not exactly apples to apples, I agree.  In all markets, exclusives do exactly that:  exclude.  Why would a developer want a segment of the audience excluded?

dude giving false claims that a certain game is exclusive and then 1 year later showing up on a diff console with extras is completely and utterly.........................

Dude I've only seen TWO of your posts, and I'm sorry but neither seemed to make a lick of sense.  Maybe I need to drink more beer.

On topic:  Mass Effect is no longer a console exclusive, so any timed exclusivity  deal would be meaningless, even mostly in the fanboy wars.  I see no reason why PS3 owners shouldn't get this day and date with the 360/PC folk.
