After 4 years you probably have a keeper. Could be a heat problem. Might be repairable with some thermal paste and dusting it out.

Yeah I tried taking the hard drive out and replacing it with my friends hard drive, but no luck.  Also, I read that if you hold down the eject button and then switch on the power it will spit your disk out, but thats no working.  So it looks like im going to have to open my ps3 anyway to get my game out, so I'll try the thermal paste thing.

yeah I haven't been following any of the new deals so I'll have to look into everything.  I don't even know how much a new PS3 costs lol.  I'm probs going to have to wait until christmas anyway though.

Call Sony.  There may be some sort of secret release (like on the 360 where you can stick a paperclip into a hole to release a disc) that we don't know about.  It wouldn't hurt to check before you do something that may cause irreperable damage.

that doesn't work with the launch models (60gb and 20gb) just with later 2007 models (40gb and 80gb)
to take the disc out you must take the bluray drive apart but i don't advise you to do that unless you are confident about your skill... some youtube videos can help you...
PS3 cost like 300$ and the bundle that previous people are talking about its going to be 400$ (with Move controller included) my PS3 only last 2 and half years so you are some what lucky... i think you will be a lot better with a SLIM, the heat they produce is way less my FAT one produces!

sorry to hear about your problems i upgraded to ps3 slim before my fatty had a chance to die on me lool but right now 320 gb ps3 with move is £269.99 on amazon.co.uk and on play at the moment (i think it's a temporary price drop for the move release)

Yeah I think I'm going to see if any holiday bundles/specials come out.  I really really want LBP2, and I'm on the fence about move, not quite sure if I'm into it or not.

With Reach coming out I was thinking about getting a 360, but I really don't want to have to pay for online.
