Damn when I first read that I was thinkin holy shit! That extra 28 million like an extra 2-3 years of sales for the Wii if it is ever going to reach PS1 sales. I don't think it will, I did when the PS1 was at 102m though.

they wound down production but is it so hard to think in 12 months time that 28 million unit's were produced for a machine that at the time was already 10 year's old?

esp. for places that are just now getting the PS2 for the very first time..but when did those same countries got their very first playstation 1?

correct me if I'm wrong.. BHR is saying the production of ps01 was going on for roughly an year after the 100 mark. 'production' is the key word not sold, and chances are those that were produced are sold out by 'now'. This is if I'm not mistaken his point that he is trying to put forth not that they sold every one of those units in those months.

To take it down a notch, I guess, but is there anything you look back at how things went at the time that you wish you could have done differently?

PD: Boy. Nothing comes to mind. I'm not trying to duck the question, but obviously, things went pretty well. We sold more than 130 million PS1s, went on to sell more than 146 million PS2s, put Sega out of the hardware business, established us as a household brand, [and] created a huge profit center for Sony Corporation.

And I'm telling you that Sony has 102.49 for years now.  In government records, financial documents, investor reports, press releases, public statements, trade shows, live broadcasts, interviews, promotional material, etc...etc...etc...etc....

And yes, I'm calling out Peter Dille if in fact he did say 130 million and not merely had the text tranposed from 103 million.

Those 'places' get their grey PS1s and PS2s long time ago, and people from these 'places' imported their PSs cheaply, not for ridiculous price of $400-500 Sony is selling them in, say, Brazil.
