Forums - Nintendo - Was anyone else kinda spooked out in Other M?

This thread will contain at least a few spoilers. You've been warned.

Was anyone else a little tweaked while playing this game? The atmosphere in this game just made me feel so vulnerable (please no jokes about Samus, it had nothing to do with her personality) and alone. Part of this was due to many enemies later in the game being actually difficult compared to other recent games. Enemies don't drop health, so you're on your own until you find the next save point. The music in this game is so quiet and it just came across as eerie to me. The story was rather eerie, and your teammates were being killed by some "deleter." On top of that, somewhere in the facility lived a conscious AI unit that was bent on revenge.

The final thing is that this whole game took place on an abandoned space station. a BIG, moody space station. Especially in the very last part of the game, where you are the only person left inside the station, the enemies are swarming all over the place and most of them rather powerful. I just felt so alone and freaked out at the end. It started really making me jittery near the end as I was running around and finding the remaining collectibles. I just wanted to get out of there.

So, did anyone else feel similar to how I did? What do you guys think of the atmosphere, scenery, and enemies in this game?

Now that you bring it up, I'm genuinely surprised by how spoiler-free I managed make this thread considering the details I was talking about. Go figure!

Sounded pretty much like any Metroid game.

Yes it does, but the execution is very different in my eyes. I've never been jittery, tweaked, or otherwise nervous while playing any Metroid game before this. Other M just took the atmosphere and blew it up to new heights.

I kinda feel you on that. You can be fine one minute and in the red the next because  you looked the wrong way. Definitely Team Ninja's influence, but its closer to the 2D Metroids where that was more true (even those games had a more resilient Samus than this, though, but she was just tank woman in Prime)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I wasn't spooked by the game, but, the music was kinda spooky sometimes.

not spooked, but I definetly get u what u mean about the atmosphere

Nope not at all. At times I felt it could be alot spookier if the art drirection wasn't so vibrant but I did feel alone I guess but I think the writing could have done more to make you feel more alone instead of the way the just said "huh [soldier name] is dead... Well, what do ya know."

I'm in Sector 1, but the lack of music gives it a Resident Evil vibe to me. I like it, but at the same time I'm disappointed by the lack of music until now.
