Heavy Rain dev eyes Xbox 360 David Cage wants bigger market share

Heavy Rain director and Quantic Dream founder David Cage has hinted that his next project could be a multi-platform release.

Heavy Rain was, of course, a PlayStation 3 exclusive - but the game's success appears to have given Cage the belief that Quantic Dream's next title can capture a wider audience.

"With Heavy Rain it was right, but after Heavy Rain the question can be asked whether we should stick to one platform or open out to different platforms," he told GI.biz.

"Now that we're established why are we limiting ourselves to one share of the market when we can reach more? There are pros and cons and it's not an easy decision."

"We're not looking at anything, we have people asking, and we're seeing different options," he added.

"We're really thankful of Sony's support and the relationship we have because there are very few publishers that would have supported Heavy Rain the way they supported us."

Cage has already said that he is reluctant to do a direct Heavy Rain sequelbut the next Quantic Dream title has already been written.

One thing we think is almost certain, however, is that Cage's next idea will retain the essence of Heavy Rain as a game, which, as Cliff Bleszinski has said, seems to have started its own genre.

I think after the way SONY supported them for Heavy Rain with lots of marketing and so on they should actually become a sort of Insomniac to SONY relationship.

I think expanding their market is the best thing they can do. This should never create compromise to their games though, but if games like Heavy Rain can reach a much larger audience than that's an incredible win for fans of Quantic Dream and their type of games. And a game like Heavy Rain would be very interesting to have on Kinect.

So I definitely want them to expand to a larger audience, but only as long as the gameplay will remain uncompromised.

Death threat do David Cage!

But didn't their previous games sell less despite being multiplat?

Were they not marketed as good as heavy rain?

Isn't their next game set to be  published by SONY already?

director David Cage is casting for a project titled “Horizon” in Los Angeles. Horizon, which VG247′s source tells them will be published by Sony

and probably cost less lol, and then the fact is didn't get as positive a reception as HR. And now they have their name out there they could probably get a very good multiplat publishing deal. If SONY wanted to keep their games exclusive then they should buy the studio...

They were not, and the games weren't as good. Much of the reason why Heavy Rain is the success it is has to do with Sony and their support of the title, but if this type of game is to become more popular, then they need a larger audience. If they do go multiplat, hopefully they can find a publisher that can give them the kind of support Sony has given them.

And I know some people think that they should stay loyal to Sony because of their help, and Sony deserve huge credit for that, but if the genre of games is to see more success than a bigger userbase is one of the fastest ways to accomplish that.

Money can buy loyalty.

well all I know is as long as their next title is as good as the last one (quality wise) they will have anohter purchase from me, I think it's great that more people will be able to experience their games

it's the future of handheld
