Whats the Wii boost from?
Metriod Prime sold over 5 million, it had the feel of a metriod game in 3d, it sold well but it was still a bit different
MoM is different but it does not feel or play like metriod game thats why it may never reach a million
A big mistake not making a game that appeals to everyone

That is the worst damage control I've ever heard. Are you serious with this? |
I'm not even sure why you're calling it damage control. Are you assuming I feel the sales of Other M are good or something? Of course it's bombed in Europe but not really any mroe so than previous Metroid titles in Europe. I brought up Trilogy because it's the most recent prior to Other M (and my point about the difference in GC to Wii ownership is factual with regards to re-releases beign new titles to a huge portion. Even Nintendo believes this).
Corruption is the only title other than Trilogy that we have 1st week data for Europe. That was 93k. Small compared to the 241k it opened in the Americas.

Actually, it sold just a little more than half that. 2.83 million. But being on the 21 million selling GC, that's quite impressive.

Move may push the ps3 ahead of both the 360 and Wii in EMEAA
or it may do nothing...

GC - 21 million That's why. Because even re-releases are new games to most Wii owners. |
3,866,508 Wiis - Metroid Prime 3: 93,462 units
28,476,851 Wiis - Metroid: Other M: 32,210 units
No matter how you spin it the sales for Other M are currently bad.

Thanks for the correction, nothing like posting the wrong info.
MoM will never reach those sales on a system with sales 73 million(I'm sure i got that one correct lol)

But that's just the thing. I'm not spinning anything. I was merely presenting how the relation between US and European sales of the Metroid series typically falls into a 4 to 1 ratio. And when asked why I presented sales of the Metroid Prime Trilogy against Metroid: Other M, I stated the notion that for a majority of Wii owners, those are new games. That statement has no relevancy to the first week sales at all. Only to the question posed.
Why do so many of you insinuate a notion that is irrelevant to the facts presented? Not once in my posts did I suggest the sales of Metroi: Other M were good, respectable, etc... Read the context, fellas.

Well, it seemed like you were comparing it to the Trilogy to make it look like less of a failure. Yes, a re-release can be new to some people but Other M isn't selling to those people. It's selling to the Metroid fanbase. The people who bought Corruption.
And like I said, if Other M does does 2.5X better in America as was the case with Corruption that would still only be 75k! "Small compared to the 241k it opened in the Americas."
