@jarrod  as good as that controller is ( i have one myself for Tvs.C) you cant really count that because it is considered a seperate controller. One would have to shell out money to get that, IMHO I think that could be the main reason why you dont see alot of fighting games on Wii. The devs dont wanna bank on the fact that in reality people would have to buy a completly diff. controller just to play one game. ask yourself how much people are willing to spend another 20-30 bucks on a controller just to play one game (I was, just because I love fighting games that much)  the PSP controls arent that bad. Capcom gave away some funky d-pad with Alpha3 and it actually works or you could use the old quaurter method and its not an issue with 3d fighters that dont depend to much on circle movements as for 360, that controller is just bad, dont know what to say about it

The CC Pro is only $20, and is routinely packed in with 3rd party 'core' games in Japan at least (MH3, SM3, Basara 3, WE Playmaker 2010, Tales of Graces, etc).  There's undoubtedly already millions of them out there anyway, I can't imagine it's really a concern of installed base.

I think the larger issue on why Wii doesn't get fighters (despite being home to basically the best selling fighter in history), is the usual reason on why Wii doesn't get certain more 'core' titles; a self-fulfuilling prophecy on the part of 3rd parties as to Wii being an apathetic casual marketplace, and not enough action/courting on Nintendo's part.  Even still though, Wii's got a decent library of fighters overall (far better than N64, GC, GBA or even DS managed), especially if you include the Virtual Console.

@NoirSon as a fighting game fanatic I was aware of that, thats why I typed "awhile" as in the last actual real DOA game was a 360 launch game. Since then its been subpar volleyball games, just found it interesting that it would release on 3DS is all. Nintendo systems have not been know for being fighting game friendly (that might change)

Nintendo used to be known for fighters too, though that changed with the N64 controller.  I think Street Fighter II for the Super Nintendo is still the best selling fighting game on a console at 6.3 million copies sold, Street Fighter II Turbo (SNES) sold 4.1 million copies. - source

Super Smash Brothers Brawl is at 9.61 million and Melee sold about 7 million..

I'll grant they're not a conventional fighter but it still supports your point in that Nintendo has and can still support fighting games.

@jarrod none of those games you mentioned are fighting games, I dont care for MH so I wouldnt buy that game just for a controller. I dont think the install base is that huge as you suggest. IN the US anyway the only game to come packaged with that controller was MH3, it did ok #s in the US, hell there are millions of motion s out there and still there is no support. I will never support this whole "3rd parties try to sabotage the Wii" argument. Its crap to me. I think honestly the audience for fighting games is not that big on Wii. Look at Tvs.C how well did that do???? exactly even in Japan it did piss poor. SSF4 did better and that was just a rehash.  Wii has a better fighting library than GC??? HELL NO. Soul Calibur 2 is a better game than any fighter available for Wii. Bloody Roar, Capcom vs. SNK 2. THere arent enough convential fighters on Wii to even compare and no I dont count VC

@Viper  its because its not a convential fighter it does so well. Until I see a real fighter on Wii do good #s it looks like the audience isnt there

Comparing the sales of TvC against SS4IV is absoluely silly given the fact that few in the US even knew who half of the TvC roster is.  Not to mention there was more hype and advertising for SSFIV than TvC by a long shot.  You're taking the biggest name in the fighting game genre and comparing it to a complete unknown entity outside Japan that received practically no marketing.

You are right though about it looking like a market for fighters doesn't exist on Wii but that's largely because no one has really tried to do it.   We got a late Mortal Kombat port that had shoddy controls square in the middle of the Mortal Kombat is over period.  Tournaments of Legend just came out and was mauled by reviews to a 45 score average.  We got a poorly concieved Castlevania fighting game that averaged a 49 score.

And that's it.  Put a real high quality fighter on here and we just might buy the damn thing.

@Viper1  if your a fighting game fan the roster is irrelevant, it didnt stop me from picking it up, I compared it to SSF4 because it was an updated version to essentially a game that already was released and still more people picked it up for one system only. Even in Japan where they would be more familiar with the Tatsunoko people it didnt do so hot. Marketing??? Not every videogame is going to have a TV ad. I saw coverage and ads for it on various game sites. I saw no TV ads for SSF4 either.  Tvs.C is a high quality title no one bought it. (except me apparently) Capcom tried and it didnt work. what did they do wrong exactly. Hell I think its better than SSBB at least it has a functioning online

It doesn't matter what you think, at least Capcom is happy with TvsC sales. This the only way to determine succes and this is a fact.

@Chrizum  Capcom could say what they want, but with an install base of 70mil and they managed to sell how much??? Whatever, just dont be shocked if you never see another fighting game made by Capcom on WII ever. Dont bother me, thats why im a multiplat owner

now that I think about it, the #s for Tvs.C arent that bad considering the genre and game itself but I digress. it could have done much better, and I dont expect Capcom to be doing any follow ups for Wii anytime soon. So I guess no Mvs.C3 for Wii

I kinda want to play some DoAX2, tonight......

Here's all the Wii fighting games from well known series (though 2 are SNK compilations).

No real good choices for 3D fighters besides Mortal Kombat, so nothing to really compare to Soul Calibur II which in fact had the best selling version on the Gamecube.
