One would have to shell out money to get that, IMHO I think that could be the main reason why you dont see alot of fighting games on Wii. The devs dont wanna bank on the fact that in reality people would have to buy a completly diff. controller just to play one game. ask yourself how much people are willing to spend another 20-30 bucks on a controller just to play one game (I was, just because I love fighting games that much) the PSP controls arent that bad. Capcom gave away some funky d-pad with Alpha3 and it actually works or you could use the old quaurter method and its not an issue with 3d fighters that dont depend to much on circle movements as for 360, that controller is just bad, dont know what to say about it |
The CC Pro is only $20, and is routinely packed in with 3rd party 'core' games in Japan at least (MH3, SM3, Basara 3, WE Playmaker 2010, Tales of Graces, etc). There's undoubtedly already millions of them out there anyway, I can't imagine it's really a concern of installed base.
I think the larger issue on why Wii doesn't get fighters (despite being home to basically the best selling fighter in history), is the usual reason on why Wii doesn't get certain more 'core' titles; a self-fulfuilling prophecy on the part of 3rd parties as to Wii being an apathetic casual marketplace, and not enough action/courting on Nintendo's part. Even still though, Wii's got a decent library of fighters overall (far better than N64, GC, GBA or even DS managed), especially if you include the Virtual Console.
