Forums - Nintendo - NBA JAM - no online for wii version confirmed

Now NBA Elite 11 is delayed, so now NBA Jam is a standalone game for the 360 and PS3. Can I say bullshit on EA? They know damn well nothing is wrong with NBA Elite 11 to give it a delay, they just wanted to do that to screw people over once again and get what they always wanted with NBA Jam.

So now, NBA Jam can officially go on the same list as Dead Space: Extraction. What list are you asking? The "Games EA Hyped The Shit Out of because of Wii Exclusivity, but Later Made Available On Another Console or Consoles" list.

And for the people saying "Wuuh," that's right, Dead Space Extraction is going to be on the PS3 using Move support. EA also just recently branded into their minds Move could capture the Wii audience. The audience they are referring to is very much unknown.

*facepalm*

At least HD owners will be paying for it instead of getting it free now.  I'm guessing they are still getting more features for absolutely no reason though.  Just watch, this is now going to flop on the Wii because of this, and EA is going to blame it on Wii owners.

I hope it flops. Baaaaad

Its a budget game being sold for $50. How many copies do they really need to sell?

Anyhow, Wii owners seem to love local multiplayer. Last I checked it offers that.

I think they will sell the incomplete version of NBA Jam for 15 dollars (with online) and some players will be happy with just that. And I think they should sell the (no online) version of the game for the Wii for 40 dollars to compensate, but that will not happen.

Actually while the HD versions have online, that's (supposedly) the only thing they are getting that the Wii version doesn't have, while (again supposedly) the Wii version has things the HD version won't (I'm not well versed in the details since I never intended to buy the game anyway). You should note that online or not, Nintendo Power gave the Wii version a 9.

"Just watch, this is now going to flop on the Wii because of this, and EA is going to blame it on Wii owners." - I completely agree. And just like they pointed at its favorable reviews when people said Extraction was destined to flop, so will they here, disregarding the real reasons for the flop. Oh well.

Hmm, that's a no buy for me then, unless I happen to see it for like 20 bucks somewhere.

No. The HD versions are now the full Wii version (all modes) online.

Oh wow. If that's the case and they charge $15 for that and $50 for the Wii version, then they're crackheads.

Who? EA or the Wii owners that are going to buy it?

Selling it as a $50 Wii game hypes it more for HD consumers in my opinion. Also, its being used as an incentive to get NBA Live/Elite off the ground.

"Who? EA or the Wii owners that are going to buy it?" - both

Regarding its being an incentive, didn't you read the part a few posts back where it was said that this was no longer the case and it will be sold as a standalone? (or maybe I misunderstand what you are saying here)

Sorry but that has NOT been confirmed, they only said that:

"Moore said that game will now be a standalone product that will arrive "in time for the holidays." He did not indicate a price point or if this will be a physical retail release or digital download."

So it can be a full retail version for 60 dollars or a digital release with only the classic mode to download for 10-15 dollars instead of free with NBA Elite 11.
