Forums - Nintendo - STUPID Metroid Prime Trilogy!

This is not an attack on Metroid Prime Trilogy. I love it very, very much. It, as a collection of games, is super duper. The unlockable system is one of my favorite things about the game - all the art galleries, the soundtracks, the dioramas - that's all great. Hell, you can unlock the ability t use the Fusion Suit in the first Metroid Prime! That is awesome.

In fact it's so great that I want to unlock it as soon as I can.

Unfortunately, the ability to unlock the last few things for the first game - the Extra Gallery, the last couple of tracks, the Fusion Suit - depends on beating the game and then saving after you beat it. Doing this "finishes" your runthrough of the first game, and the next time you load it up you start fresh.

Well, that would be fine if I had all the items.

I finished the first game (only my second time ever, and it's been... God, almost eight years now) a few minutes ago. I had 82% item collection, and all the scans and lore. I notice that the Percentage Complete screen showed Samus with her helmet off - the woman is enormous for a lady, as she ought to be. But now I wonder if that screen changes when you have 100% of the items.

So I'm going to go back and get all the damn missile and Power Bomb upgrades, and then I'm going to beat the game again. If the screen isn't different, fine. At least I tried. At least I really completed it.

Stupid collection of excellent games in an excellent package. Does anyone know if that screen changes?

No, the screen doesn't change. She only takes her helmet off and that's it. Maybe you need 75 % of the items for that, at least that's what I assume how it works. 100 % item collection earns you an additional scene afterwards.

In Metroid Prime Trilogy your scan completion always carries over in each of the games, so you don't have to do that again. Additionally, there are three dots on the file selection screen for each game, marking the difficulties you have the game completed on already, so you have to do at least three playthroughs to fill them all out. How's that for some extra motivation?

So I need to do it on Veteran and Hyper Mode?

For each game, no less? Looks like I need to get cracking.

If I skip to Veteran, does that count as beating it on Normal?

Rol you are a lot better at Metroid Prime than I am

I considered myself a huge Metroid fan.  I never got my hands on Trilogy even though it's crazy cheap right now.  After seeing what's expected of you in Trilogy AND how Rol has already accomplished this (I didn't even get 100% in Fusion and Zero Mission!), I realize that I'm not such hot shit!!

I actually know what the extra ending is, I done seen it before - back when I saw my wife do it, I believe? Maybe I played her file in the Gamecube game at some point? It's hard to say.

Still, thanks for the insight, TheRepublic and RolStoppable.

@d21lewis:

Oh man you gots to pick this collection up

I would recommend it heartily if you can afford it

damn I have to get working on this game
