This is not an attack on Metroid Prime Trilogy. I love it very, very much. It, as a collection of games, is super duper. The unlockable system is one of my favorite things about the game - all the art galleries, the soundtracks, the dioramas - that's all great. Hell, you can unlock the ability t use the Fusion Suit in the first Metroid Prime! That is awesome.
In fact it's so great that I want to unlock it as soon as I can.
Unfortunately, the ability to unlock the last few things for the first game - the Extra Gallery, the last couple of tracks, the Fusion Suit - depends on beating the game and then saving after you beat it. Doing this "finishes" your runthrough of the first game, and the next time you load it up you start fresh.
Well, that would be fine if I had all the items.
I finished the first game (only my second time ever, and it's been... God, almost eight years now) a few minutes ago. I had 82% item collection, and all the scans and lore. I notice that the Percentage Complete screen showed Samus with her helmet off - the woman is enormous for a lady, as she ought to be. But now I wonder if that screen changes when you have 100% of the items.
So I'm going to go back and get all the damn missile and Power Bomb upgrades, and then I'm going to beat the game again. If the screen isn't different, fine. At least I tried. At least I really completed it.
Stupid collection of excellent games in an excellent package. Does anyone know if that screen changes?
