When is Wii Vitality Senor going to release & why is DKC going to be huge?

This year 9 9.68%

Not this year 15 16.13%

This thread should have been two threads 20 21.51%

Donkey Kong WILL BE HUGE 28 30.11%

Donkey Kong will not be HUGE but 3 mil huge 16 17.20%

Donkey Kong's sale is a mystery 4 4.30%

Total:92

^^ Thread title pretty much sums what I'm going to ask in this thread.  Should we still expect it to be released this year? If so, are some people expecting it to be announced with a release date during Nintendo's own conference around this fall? And if it is not announced during their conference, can we safely assume it won't be released this year anymore? Or are there other ways for Nintendo to announce, give details, and release date for their new accesory/software?

IMO, Wii will sell hardware numbers in the holiday season between its '07-'08 sales with its current lineup without the vitality sensor(which is still a good amount). I doubt Wii Party will be like Wii Sport, Wii Sport Resort, Wii Fit Plus, or New Super Mario Bros. Wii in the holiday season meaning it won't push as much hardware as those 4 or even close. I don't think all these retro franchise released in the holidays will incite more people become Wii owners but rather please the existing owners. It might make people who sell their Wiis to rebuy it, but that is most likely a VERY small amount of people.

I'm still trying to understand why people think Donkey Kong will sell 10 million. This franchise is as old as 2D Mario, but 2D Mario has appeared in the game boy, game boy advance ports, and the DS so 2D Mario is not as a forgotten franchise as Donkey Kong. Also, most of these 2D Mario ports in the handheld have sold really well. Let's compare the Mario Bro. franchise to Donkey Kong.

<a href="http://www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=Super Mario Bro&publisher=&console=&genre=&minSales=0&results=50&sort=Total"><u>Mario Bro w/o Super Mario World's sales</u></a>

<a href="http://www.vgchartz.com/worldtotals.php?name=Donkey Kong&publisher=&console=&genre=&minSales=0&results=50&sort=Total"><u>Donkey Kong's sales</u></a>

I understand Donkey Kong did really well in Super Nintendo. However, the series has only done phenomenal in the Super Nintendo. I can actuallly see Kirby selling higher than Donkey Kong (most likely not though) because of its increase of popularity in Japan on the DS and its recent emergence on the DS. Donkey Kong is so old. Check out how Kirby Super Star Ultra and Squeak Squad is doing compared to its other Kirby titles.

So yeah, I was initially going to ask your guys opinion if you think Vitality Sensor will be released this year but I also wanted to ask why people think Donkey Kong wil be huge so I put two ideas in one thread. Sorry about that.

But why? Is Donkey Kong really that popular, or is it simply a legendnary icon that used to be popular. The 2D Mario Bros. was always both and New Super Mario Bros. Wii and New Super Mario Bro. DS has proven this to those who have doubt their popularity.

But isn't Donkey Kong's relation to Mario similar to Oswald the rabbits's (I think that's the name) relation to Mickey in Disney? Of course Donkey Kong actually was way more popular than Oswald the rabbit but like Oswald, Nintendo ditched him and to use another character to be their company mascot.

The reason why Donkey Kong Country only did really well on the Super Nintendo is that new DKC games were only released on the SNES. You might as well ask why Pikmin didn't become a millionselling series until the Gamecube.

I think you're confusing Pikmin with something else here. Pikmn was created during the GameCube, not before, unless I it actually was, which then I shall ask you where can I play the first Pikmin every created. O_O

@ Bolded: Wait, are you implying the DKC ports didn't do well in the game boy and so forth because they were simply port? I don't get this sentence here.

VS has been delayed to November 2011, as Nintendo feels it's not ready and not the best weapon to counter Kinect and Move.

This October it will launch instead Wii Nose, a smell sensor bundled with the game Wii Fart, a party game of which the gameplay is still enshrouded in mystery.

I think what he's responding to something you may have implied. Perhaps it's the quote "donkey kong has only done phenomenal on the SNES"

I think his post can be paraphrased as:

DKC games did well on SNES and no other system, because they were on, and only for, the SNES. Similarly with Pikmin, Pikmin only did well on the system it was on, and no other system.

I heard it's a great single-player experience. It's had great reviews in San Fran.

I hope you will be able to upload your farts and share them with others!

Donkey Kong 64 was a huge disappointment that people doesn't consider it in the same series as the Snes :p

Yes, that's what I am implying. There have only been three DKC games and all of them were originally released on the SNES. That's why it should come as no surprise that DKC only sold phenomenal on the SNES.

My Pikmin analogy was just meant to illustrate how silly this part of your original post sounded:

"I understand Donkey Kong did really well in Super Nintendo. However, the series has only done phenomenal in the Super Nintendo."

I think you misread my post. I didn't say "I understand Donkey Kong Country did really well in Super Nintendo. However, the series has only done phenomenal in the Super Nintendo."

I wrote this instead. "I understand Donkey Kong did really well in Super Nintendo. However, the series has only doesn phenomenal in the Super Nintendo."

I think I understand why you misunderstood. Was it because I said, "However, the series has only done phenomenal in the Super Nintendo"; that you assumed I was talking about Donkey Country Country instead of the entire Donkey Kong series in the sentence, "I understand Donkey Kong  did really well in Super Nintendo." (When I mean entire I mean: Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Country, Donkey Kong Land, Donkey Kong Jungle Climbers).

I guess I should have said. "I understand the Donkey Kong Country series did really well on the Super Nintendo. However, that was the only Donkey Kong series that sold phenomenal and was limited to only the Super Nintendo console. The other Donkey Kong games sold modestly on the NES, Gameboy; Gameboy Advance, N64, and etc, never reaching the sale levels of the Donkey Kong Country games.
