I still dont think the move will succeed. There is really no hype for it at all...

and their is hype for kinect?

In london, most news media are hailing Kinect as the 2nd coming of gaming so...yeah...kinda.

the media arent gamers, theyr just the media. i cant imagine one halo/gears fan who is excited about jumping up and down. even though it doesnt show that move is going to be a sucess among ps3 fans it is going to be one. the core titles will make it a sucess.

Umm isnt the point of Kinect/move to expand the audience, well beyond the core gamer? Move really wont capture that, and if its selling to the same PS3 owners(which wont be as much as you think) then thats gonna be a loss, especially since i dont see alot of PS3 gamers going for it.

On the other hand like ajescent said, Kinect seems to be generating hype well before its release date. I mean look at the preorders...

So when the media is hyped, it's not real hype? It's only when core gamers are hyped that it really matters?

when people from cnn are hyped does that mean that gamers are hyped?  its not like ign or gamespot who are hyped. and when it has to do with the 360 then yes. 360 has core gamers.

lol first thing we dont know move vs kinect pre orders because sports champions pre orders not equal to move pre orders.

also the pre orders of kinect adventures doesnt mean their is hype from the non 360 owners. because if someone who didnt own a 360 pre ordered something it would be the bundle, and not kinect.

for move not being baught by core gamers, after all of the positive feedback move has, why woudnt core owners buy it. ofcourse some people wont, but many are going to buy it, if you look at comments on youtube or ign, many people are saying that they are waiting for core titles to buy the move. also if you look at polls about move on this site, many people here are buying move. which is a good indicator because people here are core gamers.

as for kinect and move expanding the audience they are both going to fail at it. ofcourse their is going to be a boost in sales, but this far into the generation theirs little they can do, also we have seen with declining sales of the wii that the number of casuals who are interested in consoles are decreasing.

What media is this?  I live in London and have seen very little for Kinect or Move in general - i.e. non-gaming - media.  So far most stuff I've seen has been gaming media specific or the odd bit in a store.  Maybe I'm not watching enough TV...

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

So you're telling me Microsoft are looking to sell Kinect to its core audience as opposed to expanding their audience into the Wii demographics? Please...

no im not, but how can we know if people are hyped if its not from forums, gaming sites, and articles by people like gamespot or ign. people never predicted the sucess of the wii, the only hype we can know off is the one in forums, gaming sites, and from surveys.

also when talking about the media,  when bbc comes and hails kinect does that indicate hype?

It's one of the best indicators we have. It's called mass media for a reason after all.

so when gaming websites say positive things about move its hype? and when gaming websites say negative things about kinect does that indicate their isnt hype?

ign and gamespot are still the media, well the gaming media.

also do casuals have hype?

Casuals have hype, otherwise the Wii wouldn't have been so hard to find in shops in its first years on the market.

IGN and GameSpot are not the media, they are just media, and they are so for a niche audience. Mass media like nation wide TV channels and what have you are a in a different league, because it's something almost everyone sees. Any media can change people's opinions and what they might be hyped for, but the mass media has a much, much larger audience than sites like IGN and GameSpot.
