Forums - Website Topics - Should vgchartz be wider?

I have a 1440 x 900 monitor :D

im guessing that you're running at 800x600. i think you should optimize it to at least 1024x768 imo it looks aesthetically pleasing. Anybody who is viewing this site will most likely have that resolution. it will cause less scrolling down, espcially when there are 50 posts per page in a thread!

It's absolutely fine - to not pull away too far from web standards - keep the site running well for 800x600 users and don't make it go any further than 1024x768 as an absolute max. Gotta keep accessibility as a top priority in all areas :)

The front page looks just perfect on my screen. I prefer sites that I browse a lot to be black in order to spare my eyes the strain, but clearly you love the Wii too much to change it. =P

Now that we're almost on the topic, I find it really annoying and inconvenient how pictures get cut off when they're even slightly too big. Streching the screen and forcing everyone to scroll to read even normal posts is also bad, although maybe less so, but is auto-shrinking or thumbnailing possible?

What kind of resolution do I use? I don't know, a high one. All I know is that it's hard for my mom to read text on the screen and VGchartz has long gray bars on the side. But that's good, because I prefer to be able to minimize the screen to watch Game trailers or youtube on the side.

Don't change a damn thing ioi ( unless it's adding canadian sales data!)

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

lol , exactly what i was thinking!

You shouldn't go above 1024. Think about people with old 15" screens, think about people with sub 13" laptops, people who don't like full screen windows... and think about people who don't set the resolution of their screen to the max because it's "written too small".

About me, I'm in 1280x900 (13"), in 1024x768 (17") in 1024x768 (19") or in 1680x1050 (22") and 1024 looks quite good on every screen I have.

Meh, it works. I wouldn't mind wider, but not at the expense of casual surfers. Not everyone browses forums on a 23" Samsung LCD.

Now about those talking advertisements....
