I'm thinking of buying the full series for the Ys Seven games. But the wiki page is confusing the hell out of me with what games are actually over in NA.

Can you post what games have been released over here. and if the previous games are getting remakes/etc.. or even new titles can you post those as well. Thanks.

Ys series is a mess with it's releases... for the PC versions there are translation patches available..

Ys I (DOS) crappy port

Ys I (Master System) ok port

Ys I & II (Turbo CD, Virtual Console) awesome! best version still imo. Soundtrack of legends.

Ys III (Turbo CD) best version, worst visuals

Ys III (SNES) best visuals, worst version

Ys III (Genesis) middle of the road

Ys VI (PS2) okay port, I loved it

Ys VI (PSP) bad port, awful load times, avoid

Ys I & II (DS) awful, avoid at all costs

Ys VII (PSP) I've heard both really good and really bad things about it. :/

Ys: Oath of Felghana (PSP) total new game based on Ys III.  The Ys whores I know consider it the best game in the series.  WANT!

Ys I & II (PSP) looks good, might want to get this over the TCD/VC version depending on what you like

...we never got any version of Ys IV, V or Origin (think of that as Ys 0) over here, sadly. :(

If you have a PSP, I'd get every Ys on it except VI, though I've heard that one's a lot better if you have CFW and install it to memorystick.  Get VI on PS2 if you have it.  I'd also recommend Ys I&II on Virtual Console if you have a Wii, it's only $9, it has the best soundtrack, but it's enjoyment is directly in correlation to how much you enjoy retrogaming.
