Forums - General - Let's talk movies

I'm a big movie fan. Some of my best memories are the family renting a movie from blockbuster and ordering a pizza. I like action movies the best. The reason for this,is that there more exciting and straight to the point. I grew up in the jean-claude van damme/steven segal era. I remember movies like hard to kill, universal solider, out for justice, time cop, hard target, blood sport,on deadly ground. These movies were exciting and straight to the point. The story line was usually nothing more than on man out for revenge and justice. I also like horror movies. I grew-up when nightmare on elm street and friday the 13th was in it's prime. The thing I hate about horror movies is that, they don't know when to quit. The orginal movie and the first couple of sequels are usually good, but after that it just starts going down hill. I also love time travel movies such as back to the future. This is one of my favorite series of movies of all time. The orginal time machine movie also get's a thumbs up from me. For a 1960's movie it was well done and ahead of it's time. What some of your favorie movies of all time? What kind of movies do you like? What do you hate about movies in general?

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

I like to be fooled and floored when watching a movie, you know the smart ones. I don't have a preference as to which genre I'll watch because I like them all except only a couple from the romance section. I have been trying to build up my BD collection for the past two years and the movies I list below should indicate that I like all genre's and there's not a movie I wouldn't mind seeing.

Lord of The Rings Trilogy is my favourite of all time. Other movies that I rate just beneath it are Inception, Gladiator, the first Matrix movie, and probably Avatar just because I found it to be a very enjoyable experience to watch in 3D.

The one thing I don't like in movies are when they sugar coat the ending unnecessarily. Obviously most people want a happy ending, but I don't think it should come at the expense of ruining the story. Sometimes sad or thought-provoking endings work the best.

This is always interesting because a lot of people say that the early classics or mention the "golden era" of hollywood which was way back when......but i say most of those movies suck, just my opinion....so my favorite movies are all pretty much 90s and above. If anything my list of top 5 would go

1. Scott Pilgrim/Lion King

2. Wall-E

3. Yes Man

4. Shutter Island

5. Inception/Toy Story 3/TMNT series (live action)

I am no good at grammar =)

DAMN IT! This EP is such a good idea
