FFXIV Monthly Subscription Fee REVEALED -- Is it too high or too low?!

lawl its lower than WOW, GO FFXIV ! 88 24.24%

OMG THATS TOO MUCH!!!!!!!111 91 25.07%

Less than I expected 71 19.56%

More than I expected 42 11.57%

Dogs > MMO's 71 19.56%

Total:363

I don't see how it is too much. For one new PS3/360 game your going to pay $64.79 in NYS and most of those games are 6-12 hours long.

and this MMORPG is 13/month and it gives you 720 hours a month.

For that same price you just spent on a 12 hour game you get 4.9 months worth of playtime, more content than that 12 hour game, as well as new content.

That is a total of 3,588.3 hours compared to 12 hours.

I don't see how $13/month is that big a deal.

The rates for FFXIV are nothing new or unusual for MMOs.

While I can't say price comparisons to regular games are warranted since MMOs by nature are never ending XP/loot quests, they do tend to offer the most bang for gaming buck... assuming you primarily play only the MMO you subscribe to.

And while I can understand some of the "rage" over paying full price $60 for a game that only gives them one month access without further subscription fees, this is also pretty normal for any major MMO when it debuts.

WoW cost money when it debuted. People still have to pay for the expansion sets and I don't hear too many raging over that.

Also this is old news. This was announced over 2 months ago. :P

Apparently, a lot of us didn't know about it.

Or how about you buy a game like halo: odst and get that same 720 hours a month for the price of one months subscriber fee. Heck, online games do offer so much more than single player games!

For the same price you spent on a "12 hour game" you will get one month of mmo-gaming. In this case, 8 hours a week. Then you have to pay for more. Also you just seem to ignore the FREE online component on those "12 hour games".

65$ 13$/month is a big deal.

Hmm less than I expected, but I'm still on the fence on whether I want to get the game. It will be the first MMO for me if I decide to buy it and I probably won't even notice the fee coming out of my account, but I'm not sure if I can dedicate enough time to to it.....

Just about the same.

Xbox Live isn't free. and MMORPGs still have 100000000000000000000000000% more content than ANY online shooter.

and again the 8 hour rumor was a lie spread by Sakura Complex. How many times do I have to say it?

It doesn't have to be Halo, take Starcraft II for instance or any online game on PS3 or Wii. I've played over 500 hours online with Brawl over two years and it still only cost me 59.99$ not 312$

Ok you are an exception. But there are many people on these forums who spend a great deal of money on new games. 1 or 2 a month. But how can you complain about a 13 sub fee that equals to 4.9x months of that new game fee? It makes no sense.

People who buy many games, buy many different experiences. Despite the new content added, the core gameplay of MMOs always stays the same.

No they don't. Halo has much more content for me than any mmo-game could ever have. And guess what, there is no monthly fee on that.
