I feel that any game that requires you to buy it in stores and then have to pay again just to play it is a rip-off.

Pay-to-Play games should be free to obtain.

You get a free month when your purchase it.

In an MMO a month is nothing.

I feel that any game that wants me to lay out ~$130 a year to play shouldn't cost me $50 just to gain the right to pay them $130 a year.

How can NCSoft give us GuildWars 2 for free, just like GuildWars 1 and not charge us, but a company like Square-Enix and Blizzard need to?

Go GuildWars! Down with everyone else!!!

Guild Wars is no where close to WoW or any other MMO in terms of upkeep on the developers/network peoples part. I wouldn't even consider it a true MMO.

Had to change my sig to get some moderator to quit bitching about it......

And how do you know what the expenses of Guild Wars are to ArenaNet? I know the game has much less of a cost per user than WoW and other traditional MMOs, but the Guild Wars franchise has sold over six million copies to date, so that's potentially a lot of users. And even ArenaNet themselves say it's not a MMO, so you're right to not consider it one.

However, Guild Wars should be every bit as demanding as something like WoW, probably more so, and there still is no monthly fee. We'll see how that bill gets covered when the game releases.

It is NOT 8 hours a week. That was a false rumor spread by Sakura Complex.

8 hours/week? say what? so what's the reason for this? is it so that people can't buy a powerleved character from all these chinese gold/exp farmers that is plagueing pretty much every MMO on the market these days?

Your right maybe it has something to do with real money maker. A couple of years ago I had 3 computers running bots on FF11. An EXP limit would have make it way harder for me to level 3 different expert fisherman characters through automated actions.

Haha 13$ for a month of gaming? No thanks.

AND you have to pay for the game too. Wtf?

You have to pay for a cell phone. and you HAVE to pay for a subscription to use it.

You have to pay for a computer, and you HAVE to pay for internet for it to be remotely useful.

Your arguement is moot.

Actually, it's not. When you get a cell phone, many providers will offer you a free phone with a contract. If you want more features, then you'll have to pay. As for a computer, well... I can do things without the internet on my machine. Things like Civilization 2, Diablo 2, or doing a school paper. I don't need the internet for those.

Subject at hand. I'm in the same boat. I refuse to pay for something, then be told I have to keep paying to be able to keep using it. You want to charge $13/month? Fine, make the software free. You want to charge me $50-75 for the software? Then there better be a way I can play it as much as I want without paying another dime. Otherwise, I see most current MMOs as double-dipping for money, and that's not a practice I want to support.

So you would pay 65 dollars for 1 new game that lasts maybe 6-12 hours? But not a 13/month game that gives you more content than that game?

For the first case, I'd pay it, IF it was a game that interested me. A hardcore action game I'd pass on; those aren't my type. (And if an RPG is only 6-12 hours, I'm not going to have much interest in it either.) I'd also be more likely to consider paying $13/month for a game that I liked, but as I said in the other post, I would want the software provided for free. If I'm going to pay $50-60 for something, it's not going to be for the priviledge to pay another $13/month to play something I've already paid for.

I think that's a lot.

I have never played a MMO so I wasn'tplanning on getting this one anyway.

Sorry for bad English.
