Hmm less than I expected, but I'm still on the fence on whether I want to get the game. It will be the first MMO for me if I decide to buy it and I probably won't even notice the fee coming out of my account, but I'm not sure if I can dedicate enough time to to it.....

I'm in the same position as you.

I don't udnerstand the MMO "culture"

Maybe I should stay away from MMO's all together, maybe I shouldn't.

Yea, I I still don't understand how ppl could ever find the time to play them consistently, especially if you're an adult (I feel old saying that).

General MMO questions:

If I start the main story and stop after a few hours (common for me) and revisit the game in a few weeks, would the story have went on without me?

Would I have to get "live" party members everytime I log on to play?

I know all I care about is the story part too and the story doesn't go on without you cus those main quests are always available. But there will be spoilers by then.

I don't understand how people come back to MMO's month after month either, grinding has its limit doesn't it.

I might buy it and get the first month free and finish off the main quest in just that month, I think this is a good plan!

What if it takes you 3-4 months to finish the 'main quest'?

And the subscripition is totally normal, 13-15 is the norm.

I think it's a little high considering the playtime limit thing.

Isn't that what most MMORPGs cost? Where's the option "it's exactly what I expected"?

Oh you just go with the dog option if the option you desire isn't on there

kthnx

But... But... I don't even like dogs! ;'(

Well then you must, thats the plan ye know!

@r505 Matt

It won't, no FF main quest is that long.

Haha 13$ for a month of gaming? No thanks.

AND you have to pay for the game too. Wtf?

You have to pay for a cell phone. and you HAVE to pay for a subscription to use it.

You have to pay for a computer, and you HAVE to pay for internet for it to be remotely useful.

Your arguement is moot.

And we were talking about a game. Not a cellphone or a computer. That is just ridiculous.

It's the same arguement. All are a luxury. What makes one special over the other?

Im a huge fan of MMOs in general and have to say that without a doubt:

MMOs > Dogs

Oh yea, the price is good too.

dont forget to factor in the play limiter they have in the game. where its an 8 hour per week at full exp points, while keeping some people from completely advancing up the chart from others, it will greatly extend the amount the number of months to get at a bunch of different things..... now i would have less a problem with this  feature if they sold playing time by the hour, play the 8 hours then wait a week only 8 hours off my card but here that would cost me 7 days of access. and its after 22 hours play time no points are gained until the next week (8 at full points and 14 at reduced? i could be very wrong on the reduced) that seems like kinda a jip. my schedule leaves me with 3 days off a week right now (considering for the last year and a half it was one this is a nice change) and maybe i want to game all day one day a week, and then for one or two hours the rest of the week why should i be penalized? just my thoughts.

so i guess if this were unrestricted for the 30 day it would be a steal. but i break it down into the amount of time i can earn full points so at most 40 hours a month for 12.99, and other months 32 hours.  i play other time sinks with numbers like that.

dont mean to be a downer, was really thinking about picking this up. rocking it on the home computer.

I dont like the whole idea of the EXP limit, but note its 8 hours per character class. So you can EXP another class at full EXP if you hit the limit on another. Still suck, though.

I feel that any game that requires you to buy it in stores and then have to pay again just to play it is a rip-off.

Pay-to-Play games should be free to obtain.

I agree, F2P games are the future of gaming.

I have too few gaming hours available to me to ever pay a monthly fee to play a game. I would never get a good dollars to gaming time ratio. Also dogs are so much greater than MMOs!
