Final Fantasy XIV: PC and PS3 Subscription Fee

With Final Fantasy XIV due out on PC in a month’s time, it will be the next Final Fantasy title in the franchise which will make use of monthly subscriptions fees. We have the confirmed price you’ll have to pay per month – we want your thoughts on it.

Over on the official website for the game, Square-Enix has confirmed that users will have to pay out $12.99 for a 30 day subscription for the game. As far as I’m aware, there are no annual plans available yet, although that may become available after the game’s release on September 30th.

What are your thoughts on the price though – is it fair in your opinion? It is the same monthly price that Square-Enix still charges for Final Fantasy XI, so at least they haven’t increased it for the new game. Don’t forget that if you want early access to the game on September 22nd, you can pick up the Collectors Edition for $74.99, otherwise the standard edition will be out on September 30th, priced at $49.99.

Will you be subscribing to Final Fantasy XIV or not? Let us know your thoughts on this.

Apparently thats lower than WOW

But I would prefer to pay like £100 for the game and never have to pay again, I think I might like the yearly plan more.

Hmm less than I expected, but I'm still on the fence on whether I want to get the game. It will be the first MMO for me if I decide to buy it and I probably won't even notice the fee coming out of my account, but I'm not sure if I can dedicate enough time to to it.....

That's pretty cheap.

I feel that any game that requires you to buy it in stores and then have to pay again just to play it is a rip-off.

Pay-to-Play games should be free to obtain.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

I'm in the same position as you.

I don't udnerstand the MMO "culture"

Maybe I should stay away from MMO's all together, maybe I shouldn't.

Or like £100 and then "never pay again".

You get a free month when your purchase it.

wowowow, I think you're all missing the point here...

Dogs are clearly better than MMOs..

May the adjustments be with you

I feel a disturbance in the sales

In an MMO a month is nothing.

I feel that any game that wants me to lay out ~$130 a year to play shouldn't cost me $50 just to gain the right to pay them $130 a year.

How can NCSoft give us GuildWars 2 for free, just like GuildWars 1 and not charge us, but a company like Square-Enix and Blizzard need to?

Go GuildWars! Down with everyone else!!!

Yea, I I still don't understand how ppl could ever find the time to play them consistently, especially if you're an adult (I feel old saying that).

General MMO questions:

If I start the main story and stop after a few hours (common for me) and revisit the game in a few weeks, would the story have went on without me?

Would I have to get "live" party members everytime I log on to play?
