Forums - Gaming - Which 3rd Party Games will Microsoft Buy for 2011?

So, although Microsoft decided to take a different approach to announcing games coming out further ahead, E3 2009, they've slipped back into their old ways. They sit in between Nintendo and Sony on a scale of announcement to release date waiting time.

So far we have Gears 3, possibly Crytek's new game for 2011 and Forza Kinect?

Rare have been cooking up more than Kinect Sports, and Mile and Kate might possibly see a release.

But not a year has gone by Microsoft have bought a 3rd Party game as either exclusive or timed exclusive. With ME franchise now going multi, even if ME3 did release in 2011, it would be on PS3 as well. If L4D3 IS in the works (doubt it) it'll more than likely be on PS3 too given Valves recent comments. That said MS could tempt them .. it's a more important franchise to the 360 than ME.

So, what 3rd party games, if any, do you think MS will pay for to release in 2011. Bioshock Infinite? GTAV? New Splinter Cell? Prototype 2?

None if Kinect Is a Big Success, They will get more then enough 3rd Party Exclusives For Kinect, sell Xbox360s, and Still have The multiplats & Gears3 To keep the "hardcore" crowd Happy.

If Kinect flops, I Expect a Couple Big Timed Exclusives, GTA, Next years Call of Duty maybe.

Halo Reach ODST Anyone?

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

The unannounced ones!

Tease.

The next Elder Scrolls game.

It's just that simple.

So is this a stealth troll?  Because lately the PS3 has had a lot of exclusive content in multiplayer games that, when the 360 had similar deals, where labeled as moneyhatting in a negative way.

bioshock infinite is late 2012 and i don't think they will be pay for much they are being very arrogant right now

Only the unannounced games, I doubt any big publisher would now want to hurt their upcoming franchises by taking away a large proportion of it's sales.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

They cannot purchase as much exclusive third party games as they did in the early years. Back then, the PS3 wasnt that important so it was surely a lot cheaper than today to sign an exclusive contract. I dont have hard numbers but its an easy concept to understand. The way to go is either get first party studios or finance smaller third party games development. Since they dont seem to be doing any of this, they will at least get exclusives because of Kinect.

First off, I think it's pretty sad that this is even a topic. With that being said, your given examples seems just way, way, WAY... stupid?:

BioShock: Infinite? First of, BIoShock went multiplatform a long time ago and the game's scheduled for 2012 not 2011. Why would they take the franchise several steps backwards once again?

GTAV? Yeeeeaaaah, no comment... Well, actually: Why would Rockstar want to take many steps backwards just to cater to MS and their dollars? I think they will earn more AND make a MUCH better product if they have the PS3 (exclusive) in mind when making the game. Didn't they already complain about 360's limitations while working on GTAIV? Expect GTAV to be a PS3 exclusive if anything..

Splinter Cell? I thought since SC was born on the XBox, and since they used this argument for keeping SC:C exclusive, this was a series that doesn't need to be moneyhatted. I might be wrong though.

Prototype 2? Be my guest...

I don't think MS will be able to buy exclusive rights to any noteworthy 3rd party game ever again. They might get some Kinect games and that's it. More and more developers start enjoying developing for the PS3, and PS3 consumers have become too many to ignore. Perhaps MS should start thinking about making their own games if they want exclusives from now on. It would be a nice change.
