Should I get the US or Japan version of 3D Dot Game Heroes?

Get the US version 11 55.00%

Get the Japan version 2 10.00%

Get both 7 35.00%

Total:20

The title says everything. I want to buy 3D Dot Game Heroes, but I'm not sure which version.

I'm living in Japan and usually play Japanese games all the time, but I grew up playing games in German and English, so I think I maybe might understand many in-jokes better in the English version. Buying the US version would also be a good way to support the company that localized it.

On the other hand I can get the Japanese version much cheaper (about 25$). The US version will cost me about 49$ via play-asia or yeasasia. (Money is not a very big concern, though. As a working man I'm not as tight on money as I was as a student.)

I'd like to hear (read of course...) some opinions. Thanks in advance.

I'd rather not leave it to chance only...

Buy the US version.

Now what are you doing in Japan anyway?

I live and work (I'm a translator/interpreter and *sometimes* also teach English and German at YMCA) in Japan.

Oh, let me think... I moved here 2 years and 3 months ago. Before that I also studied a year abroad at Kyushu University in Fukuoka. Now I'm in Hiroshima prefecture. It's quite nice.

I usually play games in Japanese now, but sometimes I'd like to play in English or German, too. Sometimes I'm involved in video game translations and it's interesting to see how others translate games. So thinking of it this way, playing games in English is both fun and educational for me. :)

Does anybody know if the Japanese dialog is in the American version of 3D Dot Game Heroes? (Just like the English language version was on my Japanese copy of Little Big Planet...)

Well I would say chose the one that has the language you are more comfortable with ...

But other than that I would say go with the japanese version seeing that it is the one in the original language, I think that the original language is always better seeing as stuff get lost in translation!

Men it's so cool that you know all those languages :P

Hey dude ! Check your wall

Haha, thanks.

Maybe in the end I'll really have to get both versions (for comparisons and such).

As far as I know the Japanese version of the game has fewer Block Defense levels (awesome tower defense minigame) , because they released those levels later as DLC, but included them in the western release.

So I'd get the US version.

But looking at those prices, it would still be way cheaper to just buy the DLC.
