Not more than 100k what it's doing now. You got to remember ... Halo fans already have a 360.

250-300k week of Halo Reach.

Being probably right about most Halo fans already having a 360 you are also partly wrong. You have to remember its been 3 years since a true big Halo title has released. 3 years ago the 360 was $100 more and had less features to entice certain people. Now you are looking at a $299 360s with built in WiFi, 250GB HDD, sleeker and more reliable. I'm sure there are plenty of people who haven't bought into this gen or only own a Wii or PS3 thinking about getting a 360 and Reach will be the game to push some of these people over the edge to get one. Reach is going to be one of the biggest games this gen. We are talking about a game as big in scale and hype as MW2 only available for a single console. It is a system seller and there will be a sales spike because of it. I broke down and bought a PS3 today and I'm sure there will be PS3 owners who will break down and buy a 360 because Reach is just too tempting. Not to mention you have Gears of War 3 around the corner.

Edit: I noticed after I typed this you put in a 100k sales spike which is probably about right, but I just wanted to state why Reach will sell consoles in my opinion and it could be more than 100k. I guess we'll soon find out.

I just wanted to correct you on one little thing. The last major Halo wasn't 3 years ago ... it was less than a year ago selling 5.55m copies.

Halo 3:ODST was not a major Halo. Would you consider GT5P a major racing game?

What made you buy a PS3?

I just decided I wanted to have the best of both worlds and I wanted to play some of the PS3 exclusives. It wasn't GT5 as I think racing games are boring after about 2 weeks. I still like my 360 better but the PS3 is great. And to be honest if it was the other way around and I had bought a PS3 as my first system instead of a 360 I would be buying a 360 for Reach. I know there are some PS3 only users out there who would love to get their hands on the Gears of War series and I think Reach will push them over the edge to buy the 360. Reach is definately going to push some consoles.

as others have mentioned, Halo fans already have a 360....

People expecting huge gigantic hardware pushes from Reach or GT5 are going to be disappointed....

this is late in the generation for software to push huge amounts of consoles (like when MGS4 came out)

Both Reach and GT5 will both push some hardware, but it won't be huge amounts.

I'm thinking about 100k extra, same for GT5 also

and for the record, I think all prequels suck, whether it be movies (see Star Wars prequels) or video games

You already know what's going to happen in the time line, it's anti climactic, it's a let down.....

and is the reason I WON'T be buying Reach

I wish they were coming out with a SEQUEL instead of a god damned prequel !!!

Then I guess you will be missing out on the best FPS this generation. Sucks for you.

I would expect about 30% spike, over the week previous. If we assume 360 slides about 5% per week for the remaining weeks it'll be in the 160-170K region. With the spike that would go up to about 220K, add another 30K for variables and I reckon something around 250K. It could make it all the way up to 300K if a few existing Halo owners decide to replace their current >3 year old outside RROD warranty phat 360 for a nice slim one. I doubt it would go all the way up to 400K though.

300k to 400k. May have a bigger spike than people expect. A lot of my PS3 owning mates are finally taking the plunge and getting a 360 now where as previously they said no chance.
