Where does Sony say it's not possible?

Did anyone in the thread read the article? They never said it was impossible, it's just that it wouldn't be very good and if anyone did try it in the near future, it could end up costing alot. The Toshiba TV that's being released is extremely limited in that only a few people can view the 3D from certain viewpoints and it's probably going to cost even more money than the current TV's.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Did anyone even follow the links?

"...Mick Hocking, Senior Director for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Director of World Wide Studio's 3D Stereoscopic Team, stated that the technology should not be expected to appear on large televisions for some time.

From what I remember reading the other day(I'm looking for a link!) the Toshiba sets are only going to be around 21 inches.  So he's right.  Nowhere in there did he say it's impossible to do 3DTV without glasses, in fact, there are 3D TVs that don't require glasses already being used in stores for displays!

Also, Toshiba only said they're working on glasses-less TVs, not that they'll be selling them.

woah, like the posters before me, why don't we read the articles before jumping down Sony's throat, they never said glasses-free 3D tv's were impossible.

because making glasses less 3D tv's and we won't get them in a while mean the same thing.........

guys guys...

Lets not fight over 3D TVs here...

When we all know 3D projectors are much better :)

EPIC FAIL, and quite humerous too :)~

NOT SO FAST!!! Mr. Hockings never said it wasn't possible. Here's the exact quote:

"There are methods that are called autostereoscopic where you don't require glasses, but these are limited in various ways. They only work for a typically single viewer, and they can only show a small amount of depth, so for very small screens they're OK."

"And you scale them up to a big screen; they don't work very well at all. There are no technologies at the moment to do glasses-free technology on TVs, and I don't think that's going to change for a while, actually, because any way you try and do it glasses-free on TV is incredibly complex,"

I don't know how you were given the false impression Sony said it was impossible... maybe cocaine?

EDIT: For fuck sake, look at the link!!!
