Forums - PC - Who is good at coding PC games these days?

I am pondering this question after seeing this report about Stardock's new game:

http://www.giantbomb.com/news/what-is-going-on-with-elemental-war-of-magic/2479/

Apparently Elemental, which is arguably the spiritual sequel to Master of Magic, and  released by Stardock (they have coded well in the past) is a disaster of a release.  If Stardock has dropped the ball this badly, I am wondering who actually codes well for the PC outside of maybe Blizzard.  Anyone care to chime in and explain what is going on here and who can actually competently release major games for the PC these days?

I figured I would have others mention them.  I figure it would be good for people to come up with as list here.  As of now, just see Blizzard and Valve.

*checks Steam library*

*flexes fingers and takes deep breath*

*sighs*

*decides not to list dozens of more than competent developers in reply to stupid fucking troll thread about a game that was released far too early*

*goes back to NeoGAF for far more interesting threads*

Elemental has been in development for years now.  Stardock controlled  when it went out and set the date, and is the publisher.  They happend of released games that worked well in the past.  Why is every time some developer goes off track, the game is said to be release "too early" by someone?

It was quite obviously released too early, otherwise it wouldn't have been in the state it was, which was basically the same as the beta. More info here- http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=404836&page=3 - one poster suggests that Stardock had to release now or wait until next February. Maybe they needed the money, they barely turn over £10 million a year after all- Valve/ Bioware/ id/ Bethesda/ Capcom/ Rockstar they ain't.

Seriously though, why are you bothered? What does it matter to you that Stardock fucked up?  Did you buy the game and are having trouble? Or did you just latch onto this story and decide a troll thread was a good idea?

I am a fan of their games (and them, with their stand against copy protection) and had hopes for this title, as the next Master if Magic title I was interested in.  I am in a state of dismay over it.  I knew of the game when it was being positioned to be MOM 2.  I was really impressed by Gal Civ also, and hoped for it.

In short, I wanted to get it, only to find this happened.  Things like this undermine one genre the PC has for itself, turn-based strategy.
