No it's not, as the zombie mode wasn't scary. Anyway. That's not what I mean at all. I don't see how a game can be in the "Survival Horror" genre if it's not scary. |
Well then, I guess I'm easily scared :b

@the rest...did you just ignore my entire post except for the LiN bit? Survival horror is about a lot more than just atmosphere. |
I said at parts. Not all the way through. If you find midgets scary then hey-ho.
I didn't skip it, no. It was a long time ago when I last played RE4, but I do remember having Ammo troubles when I played it on the hardest difficulty though. Like I said though, it was a long time ago so my memory will be hazy.
Survival Horror is about more than the atmosphere. It's also supposed to be scary IMO. Hence the "horror" part. I didn't find it scary at all. It never shocked me, got me feeling nervous, made me jump... Or anything.
I honestly wouldn't put RE5 in the Survival Horror genre.

that isn't enough. If everyone is white it is rasicm, if the black die it is rasicm. The only solution is they need white zombies in Africa with a black protagonist. Anything short of that and it is rasicm.

The problem is that Capcom showed a lack of cultural sensitivity in the way the game was presented ... and then really tried to run-and-hide from the issue when it was brought up.
There are a lot of things that are considered acceptable in one culture which border on the taboo in others. Usually, things of that type are removed/edited when games when they move from one part of the world to the next.
In this case, it is a bit more complicated since the selected location makes some of the choices, though potentially controversial, quite logical. Capcom should have known that and either (a) used a different location or (b) been a bit more in front of the story, explaining its rationale for its decisions, etc.
Of course, it may also be true that Capcom realized that any publicity is good publicity and decided to use this controversy to help game sales. (Person A: "Did you hear about the controversy with RE5?" Person B: "There is a new RE game -- I'm off to buy it.")

Glad that most people have common sense about the RE4/RE5 comparison...
Neither is survival horror imo...however RE4 has tension. This is due to the fact you are alone and there is no one around to revive you. Not to mention it was a new experience. RE5 is a carbon copy of core gameplay that part 4 laid out 5 years ago. Its not as tense the second time around...
And Kyle, very few people thought that RE4 is a mess at the time. It was one of the most polished and playable 3rd person action games last gen. Sure it wasn't Resident Evil anymore, but thats fine as they did something kickass and new with it.
But even if there was something wrong with RE4, you are saying that RE5 corrected everything those things? It came out 5 years later yet I fail to see how RE5 improved on part 4 in any way. It was a side step in quality at best...trade the single player experience for a new coop experience. But 5 years have passed and other games have surpassed the standards set by RE4 in the meantime.
Since all RE5 wants to be is an 3rd person coop action game, there are similar games out right now that mop the floor with RE5 in both coop and single player experience.
so where can capcom set anymore RE's,
say they have one in china,we won't be able to kill chinese zombies unless the stars person is of same race, maybe they'll have to start having 5 characters of each race to choose from at the start
about RE4 and RE5,they were both good games that i played through quite a few times, although in 5 i was searching for things in each section, and i liked that option
i don't know why people go on about stupid stories, they are fun aren't they
i still remember the line "terrorism, isn't that a popular word these days" from RE4
RE redux on the GC is my favourite,to be honest 2 and 3 are a blur now as they are the furthest away in memory,i did play veronica and zero and i've enjoyed them all,
i only played outbreak file 2 for a bit,not sure why now so don't know those games and haven't played the shooter/gun type games
anyway role on more resident evils,i love them
Call me "God of the noobs"; I enjoyed RE5 but no way in hell would I ever say it was better than four.

That's what I was thinking.
