Piranha 3D Gets a Sequel
Piranha 3D didn't even crack the top five releases this past weekend, earning just $10.1 million for a sixth place debut, but that's not stopping Dimension Films from a planning a sequel to the horror remake. (Maybe that's because the film was made for a mere $24 million.)
"We are thrilled that audiences are not just loving Piranha 3D, but cheering for it. And it's fantastic that so many critics are really getting the movie and recommending it. We can't wait to get to work on the sequel," Canton said in a statement.
Director Alexandre Aja previously said that one idea they've kicked around for a sequel was "the full moon party in Thailand — a huge event with like 200,00 young people from all around the world taking mushrooms and partying on the beach."
