Too true, despite its short length, it is a must play game
it's really a very advanced version of a bit-blitter, which is why the Amiga was so great |
Amiga? I like you Crumas ;)
Did you ever program the Amiga? Amiga is the reason I'm a software engineer and it was on a A1000 I learned to code. I learned on it when I was 14/15 years old. I still remember my first game (never finished, of course). It was a R-Type-kind side-scrolling shooter.
The Amiga architecture was the best. A Motorola 68000 CPU with 3 co-processors all with female names: Agnus, Denise and Paula. It was a pretty frustrating experience to start programming in 68k assembler but it was totally worth it.
Do you remember Denises's hardware sprites? They were limited to 8 sprites 16 pixels wide or 4 sprites 32 pixels wide (if we tied 2 together). But for me, the most amazing hardware piece of the Amiga was the Copper (both Blitter and Copper were part of the Agnus co-processor). I still remember using the copper to change my resolution from 320x200 to 640x400 mid screen. Also the Copper could reassign hardware sprites slots to new sprites as soon as the previous sprites got processed, completely change the color palette (within Amiga's amazing 4096 colors) and do all kinds of crazy stuff. Man the Amiga was the shit...

A little over 10 hours in Hard mode. I'm doing it in crushing now and grabbing all the treasures on the way. Will take me way more than 10 hours this time since the first run through I only got 26/60 treasures.
Yeh i wagged wrk last monday to finish it. The story and the characters are top class. Only minus is that its over in 9 hrs 30 mins (thats me on normal). My friend borrowed it and clocked it similar time to me and he told me that he has unlocked faster running and stuff, I want it back now!!!!!!

Maybe you should be a 360 fan... you can get achievements in making lists and criticism! |
Like I said, even with criticisms I'm really digging this game, it's just that it's my job (real world job) to see these things, deconstruct them, and ask either why is it fun or what could make it better? That way, I can either not make those mistakes or use them later (because half of level design is building on what others have already proven fun).
While playing a game I usually keep a mental list of things I really like and really don't like. For instance, if I wanted to make a quick list of things I like about the game.
So even though I may have a list of negatives, I also keep a list in my head of positives too. Just because I nitpick things about a game doesn't mean I don't like it.

why do you keep on posting this in every thread |
He's probably keep a list of threads he wants to return to later and read and possibly comment on and is posting in them so he doesn't lose them. It's one of those clever things so that you don't lose the thread but it's also incredibly annoying because it gives other people the same idea and you get useless posts like that.
I'm playing Uncharted now, but erm, am I the only one experiencing heavy frame rate issues? Especially in El Dorado in the beginning with Sully. Its annoying as h*ll. I already experienced this with the demo and on both PS3 consoles so it ain't the console his problem. Only if Natan moves a tiny bit you practically see the screen dancing at the same points. Its giving me a headache
I don't experience this with Ratchet & Clank, Oblivion nor Minna no Golf 5.
