Forums - Nintendo - Why we should welcome Samus talking.

I don't mind some talking, but this degree turns the game from "You are Samus, go an explore this amazing world" to "We are making Samus distinct from the player, and telling you how you are supposed to feel about her."

I don't mind that with RPGs. I do mind that with this.

Fusion is an outlier, given that we don't know if she can re-acquire a normal suit, or if we'll ever see that happen (though i bet if Other M takes off, Sakamoto will be given license to do a proper Metroid 5)

I don't see why not, she was 'cured' of the perma suit at the end of the game.

True, when she absorbed the SA-X, essentially taking back the DNA she lost.

Wait, was the Metroid DNA fused with Samus herself, or just with the suit?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I always thought Samus was quite talkative, espicially in Metroid Fusion

Metroid is the only Nintendo franchise to have a confirmed continuity that has an enduring protagonist, so it was probably inevitable that the series was going to have a more pronounced narrative. Ever since Fusion they've been subtly increasing the plot of the games and with Samus talking in that title she was bound to finally have audible dialog. And what's his name can shove his overly long blog rants right into the pile of all other wannabe game culture critics (except for Bob Chipman and Daniel Floyd, they ROCK)

Just because you don't agree is no reason to insult him. Can't you just be satisfied if he's wrong? Why is there also a need to try to put him down? You're only making his assersion that Metroid fans are nuts look right.

Prove him wrong by respectfully disagreeing.

maybe if he didn't sound so vindictive, whiny, and outright childish I COULD give him a little respect. And I'm not even getting into how much he just plain INSULTS people all the time. He has never, EVER earned respect so he deserves to be called out for what he is: a man-child throwing tantrums and acting like his "opinion" is sacred.

He does not insult people all the time,. At worst, he takes occasional jabs. You would have to literally show every single post of his has an insult. EVERY ONE.

And the tone of his blog is not the way you potray him. You don't have to like his points, but making a strawman of how he writes just makes you look whiny and vindictive, while projecting it on him.

He's even stated this game might be good, just the focus should be on exploration of strange worlds, not on characterization.

And from what I've seen of the gameplay, it looks as though the explrations has been reduced, and having lots of corridors to run down.

BULLCRAP, he's a jerk, plain and simple. Just another guy trying to pretend he's some kind of journalist with long, pretentious blog posts that are just him going on and on and on about the most unimportant bollocks. If I want to see a guy talk about videogames I'll go to either Daniel Floyd or the Game Overthinker as they are legitimately respectful and intelligent (and at least they can get a laugh at me while they're at it)

Definitely projecting, as your tone is what you claim his is, not what it actually is.

he does the exact same thing you CLAIM I'm doing. Like saying "I'm convinced that the Zelda team hates the core gameplay of Zelda and does everything they can to not use it" or calling people looking forward to Other M "Sakamoto Cultists". Pachter chewing him out a month or two ago really should have made him reexamine his mindset.

Anyway, getting back to the topic at hand (I really, really apologize for that divergence, I really do), I am very much looking forward to how Samus is conveyed.
