I don't mind some talking, but this degree turns the game from "You are Samus, go an explore this amazing world" to "We are making Samus distinct from the player, and telling you how you are supposed to feel about her."
I don't mind that with RPGs. I do mind that with this.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
