Forums - Sales - Germany Move sales projection and Gfk YOY comparisons

Apparently according to SCED CEO Uwe Bassendowski Sony expects to sell 500k units of Move in Germany this fiscal year.

Other interesting bits of news:

PS3 SW revenue actually beat PC SW revenue at retail for the first half of the year. Although including digital sales PC SW would probably be on top.

Game sales revenue in Germany from Jan-June 2010 in million Euro:
PS3: 135,9
PC: 127,5
Wii: 117,5
360: 59,4

And here's some interesting Gfk YOY sales comparisons from 2008 to 2009.

Compared to 2008 German hardware sales in 2009 were:
PS3 32,3%
Wii 3,3%
PSP -6,8%
Xbox -10,2%
DS -25%

And some projections for 2010:

For 2010 Sony projects these numbers compared to 2009:
PS3 7,5%
Wii -11,5%
360 -14,7%
PSP -16,5%
DS -21,4%

Personally I think 500k is a bit ambitious but I think they could do it with Move being bundled with every 320 gig SKU. Thanks to Flippozzo for finding this.

it could do it

500k just in Germany? not bad, not bad at all

and ps3 seems to be killing it there. look at those figures

Yeah, the SW numbers are what really shocked me. PS3 beating both PC and Wii. Although like I said, with digital sales PC is probably on top. But still a pretty impressive accomplishment. Does 360 suffer from a lot of piracy over there? I would have thought that it hurts the Wii even more than it does the 360 since it's much easier to mod a Wii.

it also helps that its getting a lot of coverage at gamescom

IMO Europe is the best place for Sony to get  a better foot hold over microsoft. US is out of the question since, its basically microsoft's territory, in Europe however, the playing field is leveled for Sony.

Intel core i7 930 OC @ 4.0 ghz

XFX Double dissipation Radeon HD 7950 356 bit 3gb GDDR5 OC @ 1150 MHz core + 1575 x 4 memory

Triple channel DDR 3 12gb RAM 1600 MHz

Those software sales are pretty shocking. PS3 sold more than double amount of software compared to X360.  No wonder that bioware mentioned that one of the major reasons to bring ME to PS3 was that its SW market is growing rapidly in Europe. Regarding the move I actually think that it could be succes in Europe. Pricing is a lot better compared to America (starter pack 59€ compared to 99$ and move bundle with console 349€ compared to 399$) and PS brand is still pretty strong especially outside of UK. I guess we have to wait and see.

I dont even know what 500,000 "units" of move means...?

Is a camera and two move contollers 1 unit or 3?

I doubt the PSEye is considered 1 unit since it's been around long before the Move existed. I'm assuming they mean the standalone controller. They probably classify the nav controller as 1 unit as well but it's not necessary anyway since you can use the six axis instead.

Two Move controllers = 2 units. Don't mind the camera.

--------------

ioi predicted 1 million units of Move in America for 2010. Those projections for Move in Germany seems pretty high but then again the PS3 is not as popular here as it is in Europe. Or perhaps ioi is underestimating Move.

That would mark a massive success for the peripheral if it turns out to be true.

Even if only 3-4 million are sold worldwide that still a decent size userbase to sell software to.
