Forums - Microsoft - Standalone Xbox 360S 250GB HDD Price revealed

The price is $130 because its the difference between the Arcade and the 250GB plus the 25-30% retailer markup on accessories. Thats my best stab at why they chose that particular price.

Now the question of worth is there I guess. If anyone is anal about game saves then having an internal external backup would be valuable. If you can store your saves on the HDD and the flash then you'll always have a backup. If the console bricks you have the external HDD and if the external HDD bricks you have the flash.

I used the rechargeable battery pack, but I only had it for one controller, so when it died I would need to plug the controller in.

My AA batteries are always used on my daughter's toys.

Quit being so cheap and buy 4 more!  There only 8 bucks :P  :D

I would imagine they would end up in her toys as well.  Its always like that, and who can tell a child no when it comes to their toys working properly? :D

I buy AA batteries all the time in (50) packs.

Currently they are for my Wii controller (Netflix) and my daughter's toys.

I think he meant buy more rechargeables.

My 360 is gone on Tuesday, not to mention that currently AA batteries in bulk for $10 benefit me more than a $15-20 plug and play set.

I'm poor right now. Busy saving money wherever I can.

I was joking earlier thats why i had a :P

But in the long run you will save 10x the amount on a simple set of rechargeable aa batteries.  The charger is $15  but it comes with 4 AA batteries. However you can get a package of 8 rechargeable AA batteries for 8 or 16 dollars and then just use the other charger.  So its not so bad.  If I had to pay for the batteries I use in the 360 gamepad constantly I would be easily 40 bucks down.  I have had them for 3 or 4 years and they still charge just fine.

BTW you can use your old 360 harddrive in the new console. Its pin compatible if you remove it from the shroud.

$20 gets you a (100) pack of AA batteries.

I only needed (1) plug and play because while one is using the battery pack the other just benefitted from use of the cable.

What price would be fair to you? It can't be cheaper than $100 otherwise no one would buy the 250GB bundle

@OP:

Now THAT'S VALUE!!! Well, lack of, actually...

I understand why MS got to love XB360 so much, despite it being not as profitable as Windows and Office, it's its little dream world where everything is proprietary and everybody pays for everything and possibly whatever MS asks for.

$130 for a 250GB drive? Are they made of gold?

Fair would be to allow to use standard HDD drives.

$130 for a 250Gb? Holy hell. Thats how much I paid for the 2TB (2048 GB) that I stuffed into my PS3.

It all became less important when they shipped with 4 in the box and opened up the USB ports to storage. I am waiting to see what is available in November to get my new 360 but  I can live with the 4gb Arcade but would get a standard model if they were bundled with Kinect.
