Forums - Sony - Killzone 3 goes casual

I think the fetures of a server list need to be refined for consoles. Everything can be done in a menu system. There can be a page of clans that you automatically join. Friends which you invite to games, instead of messaging a friend to join server noobfestnether459, or whatever it may be named. THen with server lists it would ALWAYS say something like 28/35 or something and be un joinable because it would say the party is full... wtf?

I then would always go back to the list to see that it is still not full. Are people somehow reserving spots?

Either way the server list is a mess of garbage that 98% of shooter fans dont need.

We here at VGC are very hardcore, the majority here is actually the minority.

Every option of the server list can be distilled down into customizable matchmaking which can have a much more fluid interface.

Server lists are for the PC, and they are outdated and unrefined on consoles.

Or since we're speaking about consoles, there could be a function to invite your friends to the current server. A function that doesn't require you to type a message, instead when you receive an invite, you click 'yes' and automatically join the server. It's not that hard, really.

THen with server lists it would ALWAYS say something like 28/35 or something and be un joinable because it would say the party is full... wtf?

What? I encountered that... Once... In a beta. Didn't take too long to get fixed.

"A mess of garbage"? How exactly is it a mess? Server name, player count, map name and ping hardly count for a mess. As for garbage... It's not.

I always thought the hardcore knew what they're doing.

It's not like you could just use filters on a server list and then just click on a random server. It would essentially server the same purpose. And if you have a favorite server which all your favorite people play on? If the server has a nice atmosphere and rules? You can't have that in matchmaking, every single "server" or match is the same except for the people playing there. And if you really want to make matchmaking a complicated mess, what makes it so different from a server list? Are you afraid of... choosing for yourself?

Server lists are for the PC, and they are outdated and unrefined on consoles.

I see no reason why it can't work in any environment with dedicated servers. Outdated? How exactly? Old and outdated aren't the same thing, they're two different things.

Answered in the quote.

They haven't said there won't be a server list this time around.  Just that there will be matchmaking and a party system.

Hopefully it'll have both like Resistance.

Edit:

Hm.  Though tthis was the PS Blog interview.  He says they've "removed the need" for server lists with matchmaking.  Hopefully they haven't removed them entirely.

I'm all for matchmaking.

I do not like:

-Scrounging around through server lists with games in foreign languages/unintelligible slang/abusive words.

-Attempting to join ones, only for it to inform you it's 'full'.

-Having to read through the rules of each game. Single shot kills etc.

-Having the same rotation of maps because they've only picked a few.

I never have any problems with MW2 on the PS3. I can simply enter the  team deathmatch category, leave the room or watch tv while I wait for it to find a game, then pick up and play. Without any of the extra hassle.

I think all he was saying about the matchmaking is that they will remove the need to use a serverlist

which doesn't mean that they'll remove it, but that they'll make the matchmaking system better.

Also from the end of the interview it is possible Move players will not play against Dualshick 3 players, so if you want to play online with Move it is possible the playerbase may be limited.

This is great. I always thought Move Owners would slaughter dual analog players.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Dude, relax. We don't even know for sure if they completely removed them or not.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

true, i do tend to jump the gun alot, but after so many games it just gets well, depressing.......

well heres to hoping GG don't completely forget the hardcore.....

I'd like an option for both matchmaking and a server list. There are pro's and con's of both. As a PC gamer too, I don't have an issue with a server list so I'm bummed to see the server list be removed in favor of straight matchmaking.
