If Capcom can manage it, why can't Square?

cause its not worth it to invest and then people don't play because of the monthly fee

But Square wants it on 360... they must feel it's worth the investment.  Capcom did, and it paid off for them already.

yeah square want it on 360 but will investing money be worth it if only some people play and other are turned off by double fee

SE aren't doing it because of that reason

Capcom did it and they are succesfull??????

how do you know they were succesfull and will be succesfull down the line?

i recall they didn't sell that many and heck many of them would have even left it by now

SE is trying to negotiate with MS but they just aren't listening

We know Capcom was successful because they said as much in their last financial report.  MHFO is exceeding expectations, both on 360 and PC.

Capcom also managed to broker a 2-for-1 subscription deal (basically MHFO buyers get 9 months of Live with it).  I guess Square just sucks at negotiating.

you know that FF is a much bigger franchise and MHO sales are not enough for FF games

and capcom saying exceeding expectations means nothing, hell sony were losing so much but they were saying the same in 2006,07,08.09

also capcom brokering anythign doesn't mean that SE will do it.if you know SE are very greedy now

you are comparing FF14 to MHO an old game

Actually, MH's bigger at this point, at least in Japan.  MHFO already sold almost as much as FFXI PS2 in Japan too (125k to 150k), and FFXI was simultaneous PC/PS2, while MHFO came years later than the PC version.  MH3 is the best selling game in Japan to ever carry a subscription fee, and afaik it's actually the only Japanese developed subscription based game to ever sell over a million worldwide.

Capcom saying they met expectations on something means they probably did.  They're not Sony, they don't have a track record of distortion like Sony, so that's not really relevant to anything.

MH is still small on consoles even in japan

but is that 125k-150k worth it for developing on 360

don't even compare to FF11 as we know that the online conditions were then and MHFO 360 wouldn't have cost as much as FF14 360 wold

track record of distortion by sony? - hater

hell capcom's expectations would be low and hence they would have met it.FF14 is a big title

just comparing those two is foolish

I don't think that's it at all.  FF XI did not require an XBL Gold account to play, so why should that be the issue for XIV?  It is probably something more basic concerning the way the network functions like privacy or security stuff.

cause when FF11 was coming MS was trying to make SE friends and then take ff13

now their mission has been accomplished so they dion't care

hell SE itslef has said the XBL subsciption is coming in the middle

and FF11 wasn't that big a game,FF14 will be and if MS allows SE then they will have to allow others and hence XBLG subsciptions will start to drop

also people like at activision are looking for things like this to start their own premium COD online

Yeah it really is bigger. I mean, the latest full Monster Hunter game totally outsold the latest Final Fantasy game... Even in Japan.

Good, I think

MH3's going to have outsold FFXIV by like 5 to 1.  Both are basically MMOs, and both require a monthy subscription for that.  Hell, every MH game that requires a subscription (MH, MHG, MH2, MHG Wii) outsold FFXI in Japan too, bar MHFO, and it will soon enough.

The last full MH without a subscription (MHP2G) outsold the last full FF without a subscription (FFXIII) by 2 to 1.  MoHun's definitely a bigger IP in Japan at this point.

A million seller, and the best selling Japanese subscription based game in history, is small?  Do you expect FFXIV to sell over a million in Japan? ;)

And you're the one who brought up Sony's questionable self evaluations, for some inexplicable reason. - self loather

Comparing the two is more than appropriate.  Both are subscription based MMOs, only Capcom managed to get theirs on 360 and Square evidently can't...
