You do make a good point though.  I can't be with a man - I'm very heterosexual.  I wonder how a gay man can then marry a woman and have children?  Or a man who have lived a heterosexual life and then comes out of the closet? 

And why is it that when a heterosexual comes out of the closet, then he is being true to his homosexual orientation, but same rule does not apply when a homosexual becomes heterosexual?

Even taking bigotry out of the equation, your dating pool is like a tenth of the size of heterosexual couples.

I think I have an off the wall solution.  Instead of turning the gene off... turn it on.   There won't be anymore teen pregnancies or unwanted pregnancies, people will only have children when they want them.

Ethically though, I don't really see a problem with genetic engineering... at least not the "new kind" WIth gene therapy and all that.

It just gets a bad rap because of Eugenics and all that.

Genetic Engineering to cure disesases and potential obesity and heart problems is really nothing different then vacinations.  They're just vacinations before you are born.

EDIT: Oh misread you, you meant a persons race.  That'd probably be waaaay to complicated.  Race is more the skincolor afterall... facial bones a different and a host of other minor things.   I mean think about it... a White person in blackface doesn't look Black.   Neither would a black person look asian if the skin colour was changed.

Homosexuality SHOULDN'T be harmful at all.

But I'd think you'd be hard pressed to find more then a few Homosexuals who can say they wouldn't of avoided harmful and hurtful situations if they were straight.

Even if you do get past that... there are some health issues.

For example, Gay men are I'd assume much more likely to take part in anal sex then straight men... esepiecally receiving.  Anal sex is riskier when it comes to passing on diseases and such... receptive Anal sex much more so.

Additionally you do have the aforementioned smaller dating pool... which in of itself is likely quite troublesome.

For what it's worth though, I do get your greater point though.   For people who don't get it... it's basically the same if people who were born with Asthma were always gay, but not all gay people had Asthma.

Considering the negative effects... as in soley the Astma effects... it makes sense to get rid of the Astma and as such, also the gayness.

Society's pressure. Most of them think of guys when having sex with their wives. Lots of them even find ways to avoid having sex with their wives.

Simple: he's gay. Why shouldn't he come out? He never liked women in the first place.

Heterosexuals do not come out as gay. Gay people come out as gay. The person who you though was straight that comes out as gay was never straight in the first place. He pretended to be straight due to society's pressure. Thegay guys who you say "become heterosexual" do so because f society's pressure. They're self loathing individuals. Staright people don't pretend to be gay 'cause society doesn't push them to do that. Now of course there may be some gay people who later discover that they're bi, or may eve nrealise that they made a mistake when they thought they were gay, but that's another subject.

I could give you similar examples for why it's better to be a man rather than a woman.

There is no reason to pretend be a homosexual.

A lot of homosexual people however at least until they fully accept it... would rather be hetersexual.

I mean why wouldn't you want to be?  It's the choice between having 10 times the choices... or not having full rights, being hated, often feeling ashamed and possibly harrassed.

I agree.  In todays society it's better to be a man then a woman.  I'm glad i'm not a woman.  I don't have to worry about things like being raped or not taking seriously at my job.... etc.

Of course if we gentically engineered everybody to be men we'd be in a bit of a pickle though.

If you mean the health reasons.  I'm actually fairly certain it's better to be a woman then a man.  Though it's inconclusive since life expectancy is off since men are more likely to die "unaturally" young.  Gunshots etc.

We'd probaby want to genetically transform everybody into gay lesbians honestly... well once we figure out test tube babies.

I was reffering to how society treats women. It's the same situation for gays. Most of the challenges that gays face come from society.

As for the health reasons. You're right about women. However gays can avaid STDs and all that. Promiscuous behavior causes STDs, not being gay. FTR, I believe lesbians are less liely to get STDs than both gay men and straight men/women.

I think that's likely about Lesbian women but i'm unsure.  Never was covered at Aids day training way back when.  Another reason for everyone to be Lesbian women in the future.

Regardless of being society based... said challenges do in fact exist.  From an impassionate logical view it's hard to argue people wouldn't be better off born straight or male.

Though like I said, changing the sexes would be problematic due to birth issues... though it would help in some areas.

For example there are articles that suggest  there are a shortage of eligable Black Men in America due to societal problems. 

100 single black women for every 70 single black men... what makes this number worse?  Black men are 2-4 times more likely to go interracial then black women.
