Forums - Microsoft - I wonder if this is how Nintendo fans felt between 2007-2009

I'm not sure why you feel that way either. The Xbox 360 will still get the next Mass Effect, Halo Reach, Fallout: New Vegas, Fable 3, Gears of War 3, etc. I feel like Microsoft is trying to expand its market, but they would never neglect their core fanbase. I don't believe microsoft is that stupid, they know what they are doing. 343 Industries is working on the Next Halo, Microsoft has already made deals with Crytek for an exclusive game, Metal Gear Solid Rising is still coming, and I'm sure many more games have yet to be annouced.

Basically what I'm saying is, this time period of the 360 lifecycle is nothing like the gloomy years on the Wii. I only had a Wii back then and I remember those years very well. They ultimately led me to get a 360. Just enjoy the games you have now, and wait for more to come. They haven't let me down yet.

I think he is talking about exclusive support, or at least that is what I thought when I made my post.

Still, this is nothing like what the Wii went through. The 360 is still getting superb 3rd party core support.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Sorry but I never felt like that. I always felt I got great games to play. Not much more than that.

well i guess compared to sony's and nintendo's upcoming line up there is a reason to feel a little disappointed by microsoft.

Why would ninty fans feel that way?  They have all the great 1st party games they want and the system prints money.  Only a handful of insecure fans would buy into that, everyone else is strutting around laughing at the haters.

Don't want to stray too far off topic, but that doesn't help anyone here.

Really? Where do you think the money comes from to pay for Nintendo's great first-party games?

Anyway, I've seen MS's Kinect lineup, and it's atrocious. They're chasing the so-called "casual audience" so hard, they're set for major failure. Nintendo succeeded with the Wii by providing a wide variety of experiences and having games that everyone, from the most casual of gamer to the most core (note: not "hardcore", just "core") can play and enjoy. Kinect doesn't have anything comparable to Wii Sports, Mario Kart Wii, New Super Mario Bros Wii, or Wii Fit (comparable in the sense of "of equal quality"). It does, on the other hand, have pale imitations of three of them.

While many 360 and PS3 owners mocked the wii for its lineup, it still had high quality titles. This is the difference between Wii and Kinect, in my view. But in terms of third-party treatment, yes, I'd say that the way Kinect (and thus the 360) is going is starting to look like the way that third parties went on the Wii in 2007-2009, generally speaking.

I could care less. PS3 hasn't been printing money for Sony for years and I was still getting great first party games.

Every month from here to December we have new and amazing games to play on the 360. And if that isn't enough for you, i'm pretty sure you could find some games in your back catalog to whip out and catch up on.

Well, we have 3rd party core titles, a lot of them at that. So we won't be going without.

2010 has been a good year for core gamers on 360 vs what can't be had on the other 2 (as of now)

ME2, Splinter Cell, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Halo: Reach and Fable III

IF MS can keep up with 6 core games a year from them (exclusive) plus all the third parties, then that's more than enough.

Microsoft has never been and will never be the size of Sony/Nintendo's first party, so the comparison in quantity will always be in their favour.

Microsoft arnt' stupid though, they more than likely knew ME was going multi, they probably realise L4D will soon, and Splinter Cell, and what with Gears coming to an end soon. So they have new exclusives to take their places, Kingdoms  made by the crysis team could very well be their next big exclusive triology.

I'm a Nintendo fan and I never felt like that

I'm happy with Sony. They're bringing core games all the time, and of course there's some casual games too. The further the sixth gen went, the more casual games Sony put out (I'm looking at you Singstar and Buzz) but they still supported core games (Shadow of the Colossus, God of War II). I'm fairly confident they're going to do it now, too, since it's a working strategy. And I haven't seen a single sign of Sony abandoning core gamers yet.

MS might be a different story, I don't know. To me it would seem they're louder about their casual games but that's not to say they don't have any core games coming. I just don't know it all that well. They don't have any interesting exclusives so I don't follow what happens in their camp that much.

So at E3 Microsoft shows off Gears of War 3, Codename Kingdoms, Halo Reach, Metal Gear Solid Rising, etc. Then they showed Kinect and the potential that device has and some neat games for it, and some people feel that that is abandoning their core audience? I mean we just had the Summer of Arcade and 5 fantastic games came out of that.

Do you guys even remember Nintendo's E3 back in 08? It was HORRIBLE. I remember getting Super Smash Bros. Brawl in March of 08, enjoying the heck out of it, then dreaming of what Nintendo had next. Then I happily waited for E3. E3 finally came and all we got for the rest of the year were some old Gamecube games I had already played to death and Wii Fit. Seriously what an overreaction this is, calm down, Microsoft knows what's up.
