Forums - Gaming - Will ME2 going to PS3 negatively impact ME3?

I guess we'll have to wait and see, i think bioware will do something to get newcomers updated on the story.

That's kind of an elegant solution, though the resource investment would be... substantial.

I rather like the idea, though I'm not sure if it fits with Christina Norman's statement that she's going to try to see that all three versions of ME2 are roughly equal.

Anyway:

No. They've had this game in planning for too long to let a port stop them, regardless of how that port is affected.

How are all three versions going to be roughly equal? There are going to be a plethora of references on the PS3 port that no one will understand (and no, a story recap only helps so much). I wouldn't be shocked if they went out of their way to make sure nothing from the first game had a serious impact on the third game to try to keep things as "fair" as possible, and it wouldn't be fair if they went back to plot points and events that people might not recognize because they haven't played the first game at all.

They've had ME3 planned for years. Its story incorporates over a thousand variables from the first two games. They are not going to nerf the PC and 360 versions to accomodate the PS3 version. The PS3 version will not negatively impact ME3. I guarantee it.

I dunno. I don't trust EA as far as I can throw them, and quite frankly, I wouldn't be shocked if something like this happened because of their shenanigans. The fact that we are even talking about this right now disturbs me.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Then make sure you complain to MS as well and tell them to let go of ME1 so that way you can feel safe about ME3's future.

Them holding onto the first title when the rest of the trilogy will be on PS3/360 and PC helps no gamers what so ever.

Completely irrelevant. EA decided to put it on the PS3. I'm a huge fan of the "let's blame Microsoft for something they're not really responsible" arguments though, so feel free to keep them coming.

I am saying if Mass Effect 3 sees changes like the OP is worried about you can't only blame Bioware/EA.

Although I am sure they will do something like what Carl stated since they claim it has "hours" of additional gameplay added in.

So yeah, this has nothing to do with "let's blame Microsoft for something they're not really responsible for" but has more to do with "If ME3 suffers from this move the blame lies on Microsoft as well as Bioware/EA".

So you expect Microsoft to just let the PS3 have the first game? I'm not following your logic here. What PS3 exclusive does Microsoft get in return for this benevolence?

Hey, me too, as it turns out.

BioWare is given a shocking amount of autonomy by EA. According to BioWare themselves - in off-the-record contexts like their forums - EA are not slavemasters. They're not perfect, but they don't exert total control over what BioWare does. ME3 has been planned for years. It will not get derailed.

The best possible outcome for their own userbase?

I am looking at what is best for gamers, mainly the fans of the Mass Effect franchise. I don't care that MS wants to keep it for nothing more than bragging rights.

Theres a lot of speculation now that the "hours of bonus content" coming to the ps3 version will be parts of ME1 so that ps3 players can experience the story and make the important decisions. So nothing to worry about on either end.

I just would like Bioware to at least let us know what this "bonus content" is.
