Forums - Website Topics - gamrFeed comments

I use the icon that leads to the front page when I want to see anything like new posts, hot topics, etc.  My thing is sometimes, I see a new story that I like and it vaishes like Keyser Soze (look it up).  Before story #1 gets any attention, it's already replaced by story #2.  It's a little frustrating.  And finding a story that I saw at work and want to check out at home is always a chore, as a result.  The Gamrfeed page moves fast.  Too fast.

On top of that, I hate to say it but:  Sometimes, it seems like stories get posted before there's an actual story.  Just because there's an interesting thread in gamrConnect that's based on a Twitter comment doesn't mean that a story needs to be posted in the Feed.  I read far too many "non-stories" in that section.  A little journalism (getting the full story) would go a long way.  That's just me, though.  There's no guarantee anything will make people want to post there.  Maybe if we could get notifications when somebody responds to our posts (within 5 or 10 minutes) or something.

OR CHECK THIS OUT:  Remember VGChartz IM?  How about making it so that those topics that are fairly new on the front page are IM Chat Rooms? Anybody can read them but people who stay there are involved in open discussions (like yahoo or youtube).  After they fall from the front page, they revert to normal "post a comment" mode.  Worth a shot?

well i go straight to the main hub page first to see if  the sales are up,like vg 2.0 and go between the hub and connect

if i see a news story that i'm interested in i have a look, but don't stay in feed,i wouldn't know why people comment less, but i guess when you changed over you couldn't comment on anything anymore and still can't comment on games, only reviews unless its changed,

i agree with squilliam though,i find the gfeed ugly and big but thats just my opninion, things appear in connect before news, and the other guy who said the comments are to far down the page

the source seems to have more threads in connect, whereas before you could comment on everything there and then is he getting lonely out there, lol

anyway i wouldn't know

u hve made th site too fragmented. u need to see people on internet r very lazy, they hate clickng a lot

If we're just talking about gamrFeed comments from gamrConnect users... than this is what we really really need.  I know I can't be the only one who really really wants this to happen:

That right there.  If we integrated gamrFeed and gamrConnect into the same "new posts" system.  So it would show if my recent comments in both gamrConnect threads and gamrFeed news discussions have been replied to I'd know.  As it stands now, if somebody replies to me on gamrConnect I go see what's going on, but if somebody replies to me on gamrFeed I have no idea.  I don't want to go back to a news story unless somebody's talking to me over there.

I'm pretty sure that's why people prefer to discuss the news in the forums than in the news section.  They can immediately know if there have been new posts, and if so, how many, and if any were directed directly at them.  We don't have that on gamrFeed and it discourages discussion IMO.

Who's with me!?!?!?  ::everybody cheers::

Please combine Feed and Review. That'll help imo.

I don't come to VGC for news, I come here for the community. On 2.0 I could see all the news stories right in fornt of me, so I would click and post. Now, I'm not going to go out of my way to view the stories. I'm going to go strait to where I want to be. The only part of the site I visit is GamrConnect now. And with all the great users leaving that may change as well.... :(

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

I type www.vgchartz.com or just vgchartz.

As for the comments in gamrFeed I've rarely posted comment in the old site, and I dont remember the layout very well. But maybe there is too many space between the end of the news and the beginning of the comment section. When people hit the end of the news they dont see a comment section unless they scroll down a little, so maybe that could be a reason.

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

And please don't lie about getting the same number of hits...those days, almost all news posts had 4 digit hits...now most of them are 3 digit hits....

Again, how is the current homepage any different to the old one? You can still see news, hot topics and everything else on the one page and you can click through to the bits you want - I don't see how it is going out of your way?

On the topic of having notifications etc when someone comments - I agree that this would be a welcome addition but it isn't something we ever had on the old site so it still doesn't really explain the huge dropoff in news comments...

I think its because you guys were a bit too late with the new home page...for about 3 or 4 weeks the Hub page (no offense sir) sucked badly and people didn't visit it much. So they are most likely in the habit of coming to the site through gamrconnect.vgc.com.....

Making the new homepage tab at the top more noticeable might help. The rest of the tabs say "Vgc", "Feed" ,"Review" and "Connect" while the homepage tab is just a little symbol...Just say "Home" there and we're good.

I log on via the main page, check the headlines and spend the bulk of my time in the forums. I will venture over into the chartz when I need numbers to back up an argument. I will venture into GamrReview when I add games (still no Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 listed) to my profile.

Ever since the hot forum topics were moved to the main page, I hit back on my browser constantly and scroll down.

As for the drop off, I have seen a lot of the news headlines being turned into forum posts and people commenting there.
