Ha ha ha, flood the stores. These arguments are so funny.

True, as if its Sony or MS that decide how much consoles stores are to order. Tough, its possible Microsoft isnt able to fill all their orders at the moment. I guess thats what he meant.
Oh, and by the by, I mean these arguments in general. They always go the same way.
360's fail and that causes more sales.
No, wait, PS3 owners bought their system just for blu-ray players.
Well, 360 has been out a year longer.
But Sony is flooding the channels.
Sony started off selling their system at $600.
360 sales more software.
It's just funny hearing the same arguments over and over again.

The flooding one is my favorite. Sony can't force stores to buy their system. It makes no sense at all and is hardly an argument.
Sony is not flooding retail outlets with inventory.
That has to be the most flawed line of reasoning to explain the discrepancy between *estimated* sold numbers and reported shipped numbers by the manufacturers themselves.
One is debatable, the other is not.
Besides, if memory serves me correctly, it wasn't until earlier this quarter than production was finally reported to be meeting demand on the revised PS3, which shoots an even bigger hole in the "flood" explaination unless you're into tinfoil hat conspiracies and still believe that SCE is forcing all retailers to build fortresses out of unsold PS3 inventory in their stockrooms.
Incidentally, software sales support the likelihood that the install base is still higher for the Xbox.
I know this doesn't mean anything at all, but my local Wal Mart has over 100 old school 360 arcades sitting there that don't sell. They have 16 PS3's total, and 10 360 S systems total. I think Microsoft is stuffing channels with old hardware. lol.

PS3 sold more software in the last fiscal year and is still doing. As example, if you check this week numbers, PS3 sold more software. Its been like that for a while now. So software actually could support PS3 having a higher install base. But, obvioulsy, thats not the only possible conclusion.
"The PlayStation 3 enjoyed 115.6 million software sales in the Sony’s 2009-fiscal year (runs from May 1st 2009 to April 30th 2010), up from 2008’s 103.7 million units. Surprisingly, despite a lower hardware installed base, this performance was better than that of the Xbox 360, which achieved 103.1 million software sales."

Wow I don't know what to say, 29 and still acting like a company represents you. I am not debating whether the 360 has sold more here, I don't care so much as your logic of using ones own experience to say something is true is very faulty. Also under your reasoning you make it sound as if you know every person in America. |
I would love to have a battle of wits with you since you obviously don't have any, but of course it would be a waste of time. My reasoning was the 360 is winning NA, the biggest gaming market in the world, and therefore it is keeping the 360 ahead. Contrary to what you might believe most people don't own multiple 360s. The most logical answer is the 360 has a bigger install base since it has sold the most consoles. Until you or anyone else has proof to show otherwise then this cannot be argued.

You understand the context right? He was asking why are there more PS3s in shops than 360s.
Obviously the demand for 360 has been bigger. This may have everything to do with PS3 having more units in stock.
