Sony is not flooding retail outlets with inventory.
That has to be the most flawed line of reasoning to explain the discrepancy between *estimated* sold numbers and reported shipped numbers by the manufacturers themselves.
One is debatable, the other is not.
Besides, if memory serves me correctly, it wasn't until earlier this quarter than production was finally reported to be meeting demand on the revised PS3, which shoots an even bigger hole in the "flood" explaination unless you're into tinfoil hat conspiracies and still believe that SCE is forcing all retailers to build fortresses out of unsold PS3 inventory in their stockrooms.
