Forums - Sony - Why doesn't the Navigation have Motion Control?

Because the navi doesn't have a giant glowing ball sticking off the end of it and that giant glowing ball is what the eye tracks 1:1?  Just a guess.

We know it tracks the glowing ball. We was wandering why it wouldnt use a chip like sysaxis in it.

Oh, I don't know.  Cause Sony wants more money?

@OP: because you touch yourself at night.

OT: In the KB video showing a guy playing socom, it showed him throwing a grenade in a throwing motion using the navi.

Its possible it was using the cam to detect the movement of the left arm.

The Eye does have some motion tracking, so I guess it'd work for simple things such as thrusting. That would explain why the guys on the fighting game and the sports use the Wands instead.

more likely it has a sixaxis in it like the ps3 controller that can tell when your moving it

Or less money, if you can use an existing sixaxis instead.  I don't really care.  I'm not into motion controls, but I actually had the same question myself, just not involving sixaxis compatibility, but total Move/Eye compatibility.

The question is "Why didn't they include some form of motion".

Well, as you said earlier, the eye does have some rudimentary levels of tracking, so it will have some form of motion, just not 1:1 or whatever.  Maybe they just didn't want to stick an ugly glowing ball on it?

it has trouble with depth not 1:1

Would be nice.

A couple of podcasts (Giant Bomb and Sarcastic Gamer) have mentioned that the camera is used to track the other hand sometimes. I think someone said that the archery game was used with one Move wand, because you just use your left hand to pull back the bow which is picked up by the camera. That's a maybe though, I'm not sure, I'll have to go back and listen.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

thank god someone else noticed this, its going to cost us more for 2 move controls and this nav control they should of just made a move control with a analog stick. what if a dev wants to make a game like zelda because using the bow requires 2 motion contols 1 to aim and the other to pull back the string... i hope sony know what there doing :/

Twilight Princess bow scheme was more practical.

"Hey we have this pointer technology, it lets you point."

"Hey, you point the arrow when aiming a bow, maybe we could make a link between the two"

"Yeah lets not use the pointer and instead hold the device vertically, making everything more awkward"

dude thats how you hold a bow vertically

Its not a bow though, it s a game and TP pointer controls were more practical.

pressing a button and winning the game would be most practical

I wonder how will it work in games like the Gladiator Arena they show when you control the shield with a PS move in the left hand and the sword with a move in the right hand but how do you move your character? I mean how do you make your chararcter walk straight or back?

It's possible that a patent prevents them from releasing it.

I also believe it could be this. If Sony copied the Wii-Nunchuk they would probably get sued.

It already happened. With wireless nunchuks. Here is a link:
