Forums - Sales - Did GT5 make a profit?

No doubt that it helps the company.

Should at least cover a great part of the development costs.

But on the same time one should understand that the game is set to aim VERY high and the cost for making the game could easly be top 5 of all time.

This is Sonys big ammo this year and a part of the PS3 hype since day one so no dollars has been spared.

Predictions for 2009:

360: 39-42 PS3: 31-34 Wii: 67-70

Future projection

Wii will hit 100 million before christmas 2010 (made december 2008)

NDS Family will have sold and shipped more then PS2 at the end of 2009 (made january 2009)

Dunno because

A. It is not on sale yet

B. We do not know the total cost of development and then marketing

Also What was the cost of the development of the GT5P itself? Lots of developers shy away from demos because they distract from the final game. I would of said this dev house needed to keep its distractions down to a minimum and they should ban them from even looking at a new cars I wonder if know that in the long 5 years it has taken to get this ball on the road the interwebz has come a long way and those cars can be dropped into the game piecemeal (For more money as well).

Kinect as seen by PS3 owners ...if you can pick at it   ...post it ... Did I mention the 360 was black and Shinny? Keeping Sigs obscure since 2007, Passed by the Sig police 5July10.

Prologue should have already resulted in a profit unless they are lying about the $60 Million figure

There is one problem for that though, darth. with each passing day that GT5 is not released, that figure is increasing everyday.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Your question is about game that haven't been released. Good job!

Actually, not at all. Good job not reading the OP.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

The estimated total development cost for Gran Turismo 5 is at $60 million.

In other words, most likely not, but it will more than recuperate those costs and profit in the first year of Gran Turismo 5's release.

HOW MOSTLY LIKELY NOT??????????????????????????????

and GT5 will cover cost even if it GT5P hadn't in the first week, what the hell are you talking abt an year

100 million $ budget, I don't think Prologue, even with the digital copies, makes much of a profit. Coule be though, digital copies are a lot cheaper to distribute.

it sin't $100m but $60

But who really knows how much was spent on developing GT5? I bet they started working on it after the release of 4. Its not like they do anything else.

Money put into development aside, they are likely gonna spend a good amount on advertising.

wat???????????

yamauchi himself said it was $60m and you askw who knows

they didn't start working on it from GT4 and it wasn't there sole project

Tourist trophy,GT PSP and other collabrations take time too

Mr Puggsly said:

Well that "demo" is all fans have had for about 3 years. Also, never have I played a "demo" that offered so much content.

If it was a demo, it would be Call GT5 Demo.

there is so much fail in your posts

you try to pull everything to make the game seem bad

prologue is something like a demo sio yes it was a demo

and jst because you aren't used to games with so much content doesn't mean it isn't a demo.GT5 main games have far much more content than this

While developing GT they popped out another GT?

Exactly my point. They do nothing else but GT.

why should they.its their passion

its not like they do it like activision or ea and try to make games jst for money.

SONY gives their production studios alot of liberty and very high budget as sony likes a detailed quality project

Yamauchi himself is a car enthusiast,he is no normal video game developer

he does collabration and makes real cars

and works with real life technians and knows about cars and things in his games more than any other developers

and for ur info,Polyphony has done various other stuff too like tourist trohpy, moon toon, omega boost

and normally in the industry when a developer takes  hold of a franchise, they develop only that for many years

4 million copies and $15 a piece = $60 million revenue

No it didnt make profit yet.

I estimate dev cost $80 million plus $40 million marketing. Total $120 mill.  Still $60 million more revenue is needed.

you are fogeting that 1m downloads with full $40 have also been sold

plus ur estimate is wrong.Yamauchi himself has said the entire budget is $60m

marketing is another thing

even that will be covered in the first week itself

As much as I want it to not make a profit, it probably did.
