Back to reality....Lady Gaga is nothing more than a gimmick. Period. She wont define any generation and she is definately not on the same level as Kurt Cabain, John Lennon, Jim Morrison, or Jimmy Hendrix (people who actually defined Generations because there music meant something and wasnt just a catchy beat with a digitally enhanced voice)

well I wonder who you're talking about, because it doesn't sound like lady gaga to me

That's exactly the type of artist Lady Gaga is. She is the definition of  what's wrong with the music industry, a fake who's image was created by a record label in order to sell albums. Her music isn't anything special. Overall, she'll be as memorable as Brittany Spears in the next 10 years (who people have pretty much forgot about by now)

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

Lady Gaga's lyrics do not... mean... anything.  They aren't inspiring a generation to distrust authority or to try to stop a war or to think for themselves or to believe in themselves.  They're "cherry cherry boom boom" and "I want to take a ride on your disco stick."  It's mindless bubble gum dance pop!  And that's okay!  There's nothing wrong with fun catchy pop dance tunes!  They can be great fun!  BUT STOP PRETENDING SHE IS THE VOICE OF A GENERATION AND CHANGING MUSIC.

she doesn't have anything original going on to begin with, so i don't think she's going to genre define shit , her music sounds exactly the same as everything else, if you ignore her dressing all weird.

tell me fans, what exactly do you guys see in her that makes her so original ? give me a good example.

AMEN! LOL (I hate catchy pop music though so thats the only thing we disagree on)

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

I am a fan and still think that her music is a bit generic for how out there she is as a person. More innovation would be nice to make the image and the music more similar

Great thread to see on here, most unexpected

listen to her singing it live and tell me that there is no emotion or meaning to her lyrics..

it isn't just a funny happy pop song, that's what makes her different..

Listen to the sadness she adds into a record like "Just Dance", its about THE FAME, how just dance is her continuing her life despite the fame destroying her in the inside, this girl went through 5 record labels that dropped her for being lady gaga.. and just dance was her first true record about her experience and how even when everything is turning against you, you must learn to just continue on with life, "Just dance' ganna be ok" I mean its really clear to me as a fan since she explains it through her acoustics and the emotion and depth she adds to the songs that immediately go from pop songs to very interesting ballads. "Wish I could shut my play boy mouth, how to turn my shirt inside out", Wish I could shut out the lies of the fame, and learn how to release what I really am to the world, "the record changed my life" she doesn't make the meaning blatently obvious.. because that's what art is.. a mystery.

It's simple stuff like that, she just spins it into pop tunes, but the lyrics have great meaning.. hidden within a shallow surface like she says about her telephone video above..

Then again we all have opinions, and everything is subjective, I could be wrong, you all could be right so who knows =P

Lady GaGa's music is generic pop, although very good generic pop, with shallow lyrics.

Although, Lady Gaga is an amazing singer (check out Bad Romance) and, she's much more talented than she seems to be, she was in the industry long enough till she got to the point of giving up on what many (and she, too) consider "good music", and made shallow pop for the masses instead, which is a shame.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Bets are on that it's going to be just awful. An auto-tuned mess of boring electro-pop with meaningless lyrics.

Lets hope she suprises me because I'm not looking forward to having to hear all of the singles being played everywhere again.
