the story:

JetBlue Flight 1052 from Pittsburgh had taxied to a stop at Terminal 5, Gate C around noon Monday when flight attendant Steven Slater, 38, was struck in the head with luggage that a passenger was trying to unload from an overhead compartment, according to an airport official with knowledge of the incident.

Slater demanded an apology from the passenger, the official said, but the passenger refused. The two argued before the passenger told Slater to “f— off”, the official said. The official said that Slater then got on the plane’s PA system and directed that same obscenity at all the passengers and added that he especially meant it for the man who refused to apologize.

Slater is alleged to have then activated the plane’s inflatable emergency slide, grabbed two beers from the galley, then slid down the chute, the official said.

The attendant then ran from the tarmac into the terminal, the official said. He made his way to his car and drove to his residence in Belle Harbor, Queens, the official said.

Maybe he is little sick in the head, but the way these attendants gets treated, he's done something that maybe all other attendants just dreams about.

Love the way he grabbed couple of beers on his way out!  Would've been awesome if someone on the plane had a video of this

Passenger was unloading a bag from the overhead compartment and it hit the attendant.  I don't think it was personal but still should have apologized.  Feel bad sometimes for the attendants, they get treated like crap sometimes, and this guys been at it for over 20 years? 

Yea attendants never get treated nicely... or really anyone that works in a service industry.  Don't know if it is just an American thing, but always seems to be this superiority complex attitude that Americans put towards people that work in the service industry.  "You get paid to clean my ass" kinda thing I suppose.  He handled it badly but can't say I blame him.  Doing your job shouldn't require you to become sub-human.

I wish some of the restaurants I've worked at had escape chutes with beers next to them.

I've had a woman accuse me of lying to her about the bill because the computer automatically rounded it up 2 cents to the nearest nickel so we didn't have to deal with pennies.  I explained that to her, and she said, "Why should I, in the name of the United States government, leave you a tip after you've lied to me about the cost of my meal!??  That would be rewarding bad behavior, and I just can't do that!  The food was great, and your service was great too, but I can't tip a liar!"  Then she went to the bathroom, clenched some change in her first while she was in there I guess, stormed back out of the bathroom, and said, "Okay, this is all I'm going to give you, OPEN YOUR HAND."  I opened my hand and she SLAMMED 30 cents into my hand and stormed out.  She also claimed she was living out of her car and couldn't afford to tip liars, but... was still buying a $20-$30 meal, and gas for her car...

I work retail and I had a lady throw a tantrum in the store threatening to call the F.B.I. on me because I wouldn't price match something from a wholesale store the next state over, despite the fact that we do not, in fact, do ANY price matching whatsoever. She started telling folks that I needed to be fired because "I didn't value the customer" and "the customer is always right"....UGH

I wish I had an emergency slide.

LMFAO!!! The man is a damn hero, telling the passengers to fuck off and grabbing 2 beers and sliding down the emergency slide....priceless! They should build a statue of him or something.

I salute him. But I must say, somebody's been watching too many sitcoms.
