Yes, there are: a lot of PS2 owners that want a ps3 but can't afford it because it's twice the price of ps2 on its launch day.

I think what the person meant is that maybe those games could be made on a cheaper system, look different but be as fun. He's probably not talking about the power but how enjoyable those games could be if they could be done on older systems.

Myself, though, I can't imagine those games on an older system... Mario 64 had a high success because it was the first 3D Mario and it was "different".

 You may be right about some things, but you know what never does any good?  Insulting people.  Sure, no one is going to pay attention to me saying calm down, but it's not like you are going to convince anyone by insulting people.  You aren't right about everything, either.  The Wii can do some things the PS3 can't and that is get more people to play consoles that weren't already.  If Sony dragged along the same people that played PS1 and PS2 they would be successful, but half of those people are probably also going to get a Wii because it's different and for some games the controls will be better.  Double analog is not the best for all games.  I hate to break that to you.

 My point was that they can't be done unless making significant sacrifices, so much they become different games. We see this with many games "ported" to the Nintendo DS, which are actually complete redesigns because the hardware is unable to deliver a similar gameplay experience as compared to the home console version. The PSP is much closer to the PS2, at a lower resolution the device can mimic the PS2 game experience very well.

Dont worry about it. Nintendo has a pantent on the wiimotes way of motion sensitivity (and there is no more advanced way of doing it) and itll be good for a long time. and another thing, nintendo did it first. thats the key. why does PS3 even sell? loyalty. I dont want to attack them, but its true. It started with the PS1 beating out the N64, then PS2 took that support (and with a good solid console) and easily won that war of consoles (with GC and XB).  They won those wars, so as long as each company (MS, Nin. and Sony) keep just doing the same old thing (upgrade graphics and better online play) Sony would always win regardless of the competing prices. Had nintendo just simply done the same old thing, but still been 250, they would be basically in a tie with XB and sony would be winning, Nintendos console would have no 3rd party support again.  But nintendo didnt follow the basic trend, and thats why they are winning, thats why sony has lost its dominance, and why the Wii is getting more third party support than the GC ever came close to. 

 In conclusion, even if MS and Sony have some hightech (or even identical) motion sensing controls for their next console, it wont beat out nintendo, not even close. Nintendo did it first. Now Nintendo has the support of the fans, people are jumping on the bandwagon, and just like the PS1 and 2, as long as the consoles just keep doing the same old thing, then nintendo will always easily win. O, and BTW the "same old thing" right now is either just make the slightest improvment on graphics and online play (cause theres not much room for improvment in either of those categories anymore) or do the motion sensing thing. nintendo has now made that their standard, they arent going to ever abandon it.

PS360N64PSXBOX: Maybe if you weren't constantly making conflicting rants such as "No one is threatened by its lack of power I just don't like the MD" immediately followed by "I'll never get the Wii 'cause it's the weakest console" people wouldn't be attacking your statements so often. ;> Anyway 99% of the posts I read complaining about the Wii are all about how the graphics suck and if it wins it'll be the end of epic HD games.

I'm going to stick with the main question...

I'm scared of the Wii because my mom always said to be careful of the small, quiet kids in class.  They're the ones who usually turn out to be the mass murderers. 

Out of context....As always. I had bad experiences with the PS2, after the slow load times I swore never to buy the weakest system again...Or atleast an underpowered one. People attack because they hate the message so they attack the messenger.

What do I care about HD? I don't have an HD tv and this goes deeper than that.

4) Is that so? How can you claim these people never played before? Have you polled them? The Wii can't match the PS3's graphics, speed, online..Not to mention the PS3 has MD so if Sony wanted to they could make the PS3 do anything the Wii can. So no, there is nothing the Wii can do the PS3 can't. To match the Wii's MD powers all sony needs is a different controller as the PS3 can already detect MD.

5) Half of those people? Grabbing at straws here. And the controls are up to the person, I doubt the big N will get half of Sony's market. They are not even trying to.

6) Nice try slick. Where did I say that? Ooooohhhh, Thats right...I didn't.....Hmmmm. But I love to break it to you, but MD isn't best for all game either....
