Why did technology not increase rapidly, it seems we're stuck in a rut in terms of the space programn.

Then our aeroplanes, its been around 30 years since the concorde came, 30 years later the concorde is out of commission and there are no plans for faster commercial aeroplanes. The latest Airbus is looking at increasing capacity and the latest boeing (787) is looking at being smaller and increasing flight "connections". The 747 which is 30 years old is still flown! (new models obviously but still!)

Why have these last 30 years been so slow? Is it because there were no "big" wars which prevented motivation for large scale research? Or is it a financial problem.

At this rate Mars Colonization is impossible within my lifetime!

NOO I will never be able to release ultemecia at this rate.......

I agree, this sounds selfish but we need a big war for massive technology upgrades.

Not that it would be worth it seeing the number of lives that would be lost

concorde was scrapped for several reasons:

Firstly, oil prises are much higher now, meaning concorde was really expensive

Secondly, I'm pretty sure there was a crash

Thirdly, it was noisy 

Fourthly, If I'm right I think quite a lot of people in the US didn't want it flying in US air space, possibly for reason 3

 

It's a shame it got cancelled, it used to fly over my Grandmother's house in London and was a very good example of Anglo-French co-operation

It amazes me that there are people in this world dumb enough to think the moon landing was a hoax. The amount of evidence is overwhelming and every conspiracy nut's "proof" is easily discounted by, ya know, science.

One of my personal favorites is the "all the photo backgrounds from the moon are clearly in focus, therefore it was a HOLLYWOOD SET."

Um, focal depth doesn't apply to non-atmospheric conditions...
