Forums - Gaming - Any Oddworld fans here?

I remember watching my cousins play this game when I was a kid, and for the time it looked really wierd and creepy but I never played it for some reason. So I downloaded Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee from PSN, 4 hours in and I'm really liking it. the game has a very unique and amazing art design. for a 10 years old game it looks beautiful. The puzzles are fun but they can also be frustrating at the same time. I also like its dark and humorous feel.

What other games in the series should I also check out? what do you guys think about the series in general?

Hell yes! Abe's Exodus was the best one IMO.

Munch's Oddysee and Strangers Wrath are being remade for the PC.

Whenever i've seen the video for that Eiffel 65 song "blue" i alwasy think of abe's oddworld

That's the sequel right? I think I saw it on PSN. I'll make sure to download it after I finish with Abe's Oddysse.

One thing I don't like about Abe's Odysse is the save system(at least for the PS1/PSN version), you can't overwrite your own saves. you'll have to delete the previous one so you won't get confused in case you created another one, it's not that much of an issue but it's a little annoying.

I played and loved the first one, Abe's Oddyssee.  It reminded me of Out of This World, Blackthorne, Flashback: The Quest for Identity, and Prince of Persia.  I love that style of games, which Wikipedia apparently calls "cinematic platformers."

Then I played one of the 3D ones on the XBox and almost barfed.  Haven't tried the other 2D ones, but I hear they're pretty good too.

Abe FTW.

2d where amazing, then went downhill.

It's a classic

Quick save with Abe's Exoddus was a MAJOR improvement over Oddysee. Basically wherever you quicksave is where you start from if you die.

I LOVE the first 2 Oddworld games, have DL'd them both onto my PS3. Almost converted to XBox because of it so I could play the Munch game. But it sounds like Munch and Stranger didn't quite live up to Abe. So it seems like it was no big loss sticking with PS2, and I think Jak and Ratchet were pretty good trade offs for not being able to play any more oddworld games.

Exploding farts you control with your mind FTW!!!
