""In case you haven't noticed over the last year, when the quarterly reports come out the site numbers are adjusted. Those come directly from the companies.""

==> you are right

I would laugh if nintendo said they shipped 15 million at the end of the year.

yea LO is _this_ week , but right now we are discussing the numbers of _last_ week here

Great american numbers, PS3 is holding up well, can easily get 8 mil by years end.

IMO, the X360 still has a decent chance of slightly edging the PS3 this week.

Even though the PS3 has done remarkably well, it's shown weak legs when a poor selection of software comes to the market. Last week, it had PES 2008. This week, it doesn't have much of anything if I remember right.

So I think that it'll probably be within 2-5k either way.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Sincerely, I don't care about those small advantages. Barring tracking errors, the PS3 and the 360 are tied in sales lately, period. The most important thing will be the weekly boosts in December.

Talking about absolute sales (i.e. not percentage-wise), it looks like 360 will get a bigger boost than the PS3 in USA, and the PS3 will get the bigger boost in Europe, so it's basically a "battle" between Europe and USA. I think USA sales will be higher. Japan doesn't get such big boosts but they'll obviously favor the PS3, which might balance things out a bit. It will be interesting to see how things go!

PS: BTW, does anyone still think that Nintendo isn't releasing Wii stockpiles? Even if sales didn't increase any more, and without counting Japanese sales, in the remaining 4 weeks the Wii would sell 2.3 million for a total of 17.78 million.

So is that 2 weeks in a row that the DS got a million before Japan numbers came in? It's gonna break a million all 6 weeks, isn't it? Has that ever happened? Wasn't the record 4 or 5 or something with the PS2? I could be wrong. I wasn't paying too much attention in the other thread that covered this madness.

Yep, you are correct. record for a single year was 5 weeks over 1 million, [all 5 were consecutive] set by PS2 in i think Nov/Dec 2002. Last year DS managed 4 weeks. This year it is certain to make 5 weeks if not 6.
