Capcom “wouldn’t rule anything out” on Okami HD

While we’re getting a playable Amateratsu in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, it isn’t exactly what we’d call Okami HD. Luckily, Motohide Eshiro, producer of the upcoming DS title Okamiden, has said that we shouldn’t rule out the possibility of seeing one. 

“As far as a HD version goes, I understand why Okami fans would want such a graphic improvement over the original,” Eshiro told Siliconera. “I wouldn’t rule anything out. After this game comes out, if the response is good and people still want an HD Okami it will be something I definitely consider.

“For now, I hope Okami fans and fans who want Okami HD will try out Okamiden and enjoy it for what it is, a portable Okami experience. Then maybe later down the line we can talk about something HD.”

Sounds like if you want to play Okami on your PlayStation 3s and Xbox 360s, you’ll all have to go out and buy Okamiden. So buy it. Even if you don’t own a DS.

I would kinda doubt it, given A: Capcom's track record of teasing things that never happened (though they did tease things that did happen, like with TvC, so that argument's shaky), B: Okami helped to convince Capcom to shut Clover down, so the suits can't be too keen on bringing it back, C: possible expense of a project, it may take quite a bit to get that game's beautiful art in high res, especially depending on how high they wish to go, or how they plan on doing it...

 

I mean, Okami came to Wii when all those arguments against it were also true (except the expense one to a point, though Wii had to have control revamping), so who really knows?

That would be amazing to see it be ported again.

If they do, I hope they integrate motion controls (though I'm not sure how that would work on Kinect, exactly).

Yes it would be amazing to see it ported, this time they can cut away all the credits to the game.

 

Oh wait they pretty much did that to the Wii version.

agree, the 3DS wouldb be nuch better suited for 3DS. Potring it to HD consoles seems more expensive than what it's worth

So wait... is it just a port? What's the point to that? It's not as if it would look that much better (the cell sheded style and all), plus the game had poor sales on both the PS2 and Wii. I doubt a HD version would sell any better.
