Protrusion 3D with current 3D technology is a horrible idea, as it looks very fake and causes massive eyestrain. The best 3D adds good depth. If it's really great 3D it just enhances the immersion and experience, rather than constantly remind you that you're watching something in 3D.
Although it's not the first time I've seen something like this, this one was very well made.
I just had an eyegasm all over my keyboard...
