Forums - Sony - 4oD Coming To PS3

Following the success of BBC's iPlayer on PlayStation, Channel 4 could be the first commercial TV station to come to the PS3 according to an interview in Broadcast magazine.

TechRadar is reporting that Channel 4 is currently looking to take their on demand digital service to other platforms following its success on Virgin Media's on demand service and YouTube, with an iPad app also in development.

Talks between Sony and the British TV channel are at early stages, but Channel 4 seems confident of a deal being made with an insider quoted as saying - "4oD is becoming a platform agnostic product and will be successful because of the quality of the content."

With a rich back catalogue including The Inbetweeners, The Ali G Show, and Fonejacker, the addition of 4oD to the XMB will surely be celebrated as another win for PS3 owners everywhere.

Oh boy, TV shows. I know that's why I buy a game console.

I don't see how this is stepping up PSN's game. But hey, I live in America. Maybe I don't know how relevant these shows are across the pond.

is this gonig to be a pay per download kind of service or monthly charge, free perhaps?

Its nothing significant though. I mean its not news when new crap gets added to the Zune service. You just kinda expect it.

Mhm I have a feeling sony may make the ps3's XMB similar to the apps on the iphone, if they do that would be a genius plan.. as it would continue to add to the "IT ONLY DOES EVERYTHING" aspect of the ps3.

4oD is a free service, with 30 second ad breaks every 15 minutes (give or take)

Well, this is a good idea for Sony, MS has been kickign their tail in Britian lately.
