Undoubtedly MGS3

One last confrontation with Ocelot.  A moment of intimacy with Eva.  The groundwork for one of gaming's best series was laid bare.  I went from hating that bitch, The Boss, to actually fighting back tears as Naked Snake (who instantly became my favorite Snake--beating out Solid Snake whom I'd been playing as since 1987) stood at her grave site and saluted.  And then, the credits rolled.  A song called "Way To Fall" started playing and all I could think of one thing:  "This is the greatest video game I have ever played."

you're aware chrono had multiple endings (and ways to end the game) right? :-p ... and wasn't there chronocross (have it never played it so...)

Yep.  I got every single one of 'em.  In fact, I played through Chrono Trigger so many times that all of my characters were level "Star, Star" except for Magus.  But that one was the best ending (and some of those endings were joke endings or non-endings).  I got Chrono Cross, too.  It was nothing like Chrono Trigger.  It was a good RPG but a horrible sequel.  I'm not even sure if it can be considered a sequel.

It's as much of a sequel as any of the Final Fantasy games are to eachother.

Exactly.  Well, scratch that.  Chrono, Marle, and Lucca actually did show up in Chrono Cross.  I just couldn't comprehend the story.  It was pretty convoluted.  Now excuse me while I chase after Darth.

Oh goody! I haven't had a reason to chase you since the "Wii squad incident." 

On Topic: Probably Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, or the Orc campaign in Warcraft III.

MGS3 had such a sad ending to the game, everything Snake went through,the salute, the tear...oh god

MGS4 was probably my favorite, the part where it sounded like Snake shot himself I think my heart stopped beating for a minute there. The giant microwave, the epic fight scene, it was a perfect ending to the perfect series, what a way to go out.

Crisis Core was one of the saddest endings, poor Zack. Fight all those soldiers to protect Cloud. That yell by Cloud at the end when Zack died drove right through my spine, so sad.

I think i must enjoy the main guy in the game to die or something but Final Fantasy: Crisis Core and Final Fantasy X came to mind. I just wish they let Tidus get his rest like he deserved at the end of X instead of making  X-2 and completly ruining the end for me on X

Knights of the Old Republic on the first Xbox also was good! Pretty cool how you were the bad guy all along and had no idea. Pretty huge twist, im pretty sure i did the dark and light endings, but can only remember the dark side ending.

Did it actually end? 'Cause they still seem to be releasing MGS games. Never played the mages myself.

As far as modern games go, I thought the ending to Red Dead Redemption was utterly fantastic. The best ending to a game this generation.
